Courage is loading..........

It's 4:45 EST and the Courage is being loaded. Currently the WW website shows 26 of the 148 cars for the Booking Number have been loaded. My car has not been loaded yet but everything is progressing nicely.

If you go to http://www.aislive.com you can get a map that shows the Courage at the dock in Southampton. The Courage is scheduled to depart this afternoon at 18:00 BST or 1:00 PM EST. (Funny I can't find where I saw the departure time listed.)

I am so totally lame. My spec is
  • BRG/White w bonnet stripes
  • LSD
  • Cold weather
  • Front fogs
  • Rear fogs
  • Multifunction cruise
I agonized and decided not to get the S-lites, even though they look so right on the car. The weight and ride advantages of the V-spoke won out. But try to find a picture on the internet of a BRG/W car with v-spokes, bonnet stripes, and no sunroof.

So here it is, with apologies to whoever's car this really is, MY CAR:

And if you can't see the picture, it's because my sleazy attempt to use blogger as a photo hosting site didn't quite work out.

Still no information for my VIN. I guess I didn't make the Courage which means another week or so to wait for the next boat. Argh . . .

But ASKMINI states that my MINI is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel. I guess that's a good sign.

Looks like they haven't loaded any cars onto the Courage in about 3 hours. Currently they have 86 of the 148 in the Booking Number group loaded. I hope they just stopped updating the records and that they are still loading cars or there are going to be some unhappy people. Glad mine got loaded or I would have never got any sleep.

tubwreck - Looks like our VINs are only 22 numbers apart.

I found the departure times for Southampton. http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/com/smovements.htm
The Courage is leaving a little later than I previously had posted and is scheduled to depart at 19:00 BST or 2:00PM EST so they still have about 4 hours to finish loading.

My MA was so not helpful - just told me that all he knows is that I'm at the port and IF I get on the next ship, it will be here by the end of the month. Doesn't he have more information than that? Such as IF I'm booked?

Your MA should know the boat and shipping info, once it is available. I have to work with my MA because I will probably go on a NYK ship.

The NYK Line Internet Site is currently unavailable.

To better serve our customers, additional features are being added to our web site.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

i got the msg, above, when i tried the nyk site today. one can only hope that they are adding content to allow tracking? .....

i will likely be on an nyk ship, too, and that makes the waiting even tougher (not being able to track the movement of my car minute by minute, mile by mile )

HAHAHA, Yeah, i totally understand. Even though we are on the West Coast, we still have a chance at a WW ship. Its just not very good. i know someone who got onto a WW ship headed to Port Hueneme about 3 weeks ago. There is always hope!

I'm on the Courage as well. Maybe Tubwreck and I will meet up at MoP when our cars come in (I live in Brookline, but ordered from MoP rather than HC). I've got a Space blue/silver MCS. No bonnet stripes.

Has anybody found out the call letters to the Courage? Using a couple of different sources, I found two different answers: HOZN and WDC6907, neither of which seem to be able to pull up the ship's current position during transit, though the WDC one seems like it might be a better shot.

Which site are you using to get the position of the ship at sea?

There are at least three of us with cars destined for MoP currently on the Courage. I'm in Dover, and also elected to use MoP rather than HC despite the distance. It would be fun, time permitting, for one of us to be there for the unloading. I'm probably going up this week to get a quote on my trade-in.

WDC6907 appear to be the correct call sign for Courage. If you go to http://www.sailwx.info/ and put in WDC6907 it displays information about Courage but it is from the end of April. I think the info is updated when the ship reports weather conditions and this has not happened recently. Maybe when Courage gets out in the open ocean this will be updated.

My car is going to MoP. I think I probably made that obvious previously. I talked to my MA Friday and he said the cars should arrive at MoP between May 22 and the 25. He said that after the car arrives it is 48 hour before he'll have all the Certificate of Origin and I'll be able to pick the car up. I don't really understand why it takes 48 hrs to get the paperwork.

Yeah, I've been checking the sailwx web site. After some rather extensive web searching, I've confirmed that WDC6907 is definitely the call sign for the Courage. Its position just has not been updated on that web site, and those sound like good enough reasons why it hasn't.

My take on the news from the MAs is that they will always overshoot their time estimates. They would rather be dealing with a customer who is pleasantly surprised that their car is ready for pick-up earlier than expected than one who thought it would be ready earlier and is forced to wait a few days more. I'm sure it doesn't take 48 hours to do the paperwork, but they might as well build in some leeway time for themselves in case something does come up.
