The Auto Banner transiting the Miraflores locks on the way to the Pacific. She's the one with the Red hull. Behind her is the Nippon Highway.

Gromit is about to be in the right ocean!

Thanks, folks! And GBMiniGirl, nice new sig!

Two great tastes that taste great together, eh? Do you know what CAI + 15% pulley do to emissions and gas mileage?

Sigh--Kerry hasn't called yet (said she'd call on Monday); guess that means no hope of Logan getting back onto the early truck...

There's a live Panama Canal webcam, and I just did a capture from the screen.

All she has to do is transit this set of locks, and the next stop is Port Hueneme!

Thanks for noticing, guys! I got bored at work today.

The CAI will improve your gas mileage. It makes your car breathe better; therefore, burning your gas more efficently (not sure I spelled that right). Pulley? No clue. Don't have one personally. Will ask my hubby later tho.

Excellent news.

And thanks for the Panama pic.

Everyone should be all smiles soon.

Having fun here, but I wish it weren't so dang hot.

Asked hubby about the pulley. It won't do really anything to your emissions or mpg, BUT...."it will make you want to put your foot down more...which will lead to lower gas mileage. But then you're just suffering from lead foot disease by that point."

Thanks for checking into it! I know that disease well...as far as I can tell, it's incurable.

Well, just spoke to Ian and my hopes of mini-motoring today have been dashed. GreenRacer (the mini) is currently sitting over at the docks in Charlestown (apparently they don't get shipped directly to the dealership from NY) and will likely not be at HC until tomorrow morning.

He assured me that I will be able to take delivery tomorrow - but it will likely be 5 pm or later. Which means no mid-day zooming around with little to no traffic. Boston, on a Friday, between 5-7 pm is really really crappy traffic.

I was planning on taking a vacation day tomorrow to zoom around but that's pointless now. Oh well, at least I'll have the extra vacation day for later in the year.

Not that I should really be complaining since I'm sure others in week 28 still have many days if not weeks left to wait, but I was really hoping to get it today.

So sorry to hear about the wait! At least you'll get him for the weekend...and HC is open until 9 or so. If you had dinner in town and got him around 7 or 8, you'd get to zoom home...

Hmmm... That is a good point. Except I don't know if I could wait that long. The traffic itself isn't a problem (going on 10 years of daily Boston driving) the inability to get above 20 mph is what's going to irk me.

Shoot, I wish I had that problem. We're going to the Monterey Historics in a couple weeks. Hundreds of Mini's, and we won't even have ours yet!

Logan's coming!

Current ETA is arrival on Sunday, ready for pickup by Tuesday. Yay!

For those following my saga...

I called Kerry to ask the ETA, since she'd said she'd call on Monday and she went silent and then said, "I know I was supposed to call but I forgot. I'll call now."

But on the very bright side:

- She called back 5 minutes later with an answer that gets Logan here within the next couple of days. Yay!

- I got her to install an iPod adaptor for me free of charge for my troubles. I could have gotten Logan on Monday without the iPod adaptor, but I figure I've waited this long, I can wait one more day--especially since I wanted the iPod adaptor but decided against it to save money. Double yay!

And the best part:

- She confirmed that he just got left off the truck, and he was NOT damaged in any way. Triple yay!

Someday my MINI will come...

That's great news BB!

Glad to hear that you're getting some freebies for your trouble. They charge $330 for the iPod adapter (parts & labor) so that's nothing to sneeze at!

Yeah, I can't imagine thinking, "My MINI's ready for me to take him home, but I'm just going to wait a few hours..."

Re: the iPod, I know. I originally had iPod ordered and decided to leave it for later to save $. So--yay! And this weekend's project is the automatic garage door opener, so I have the extra few days to get ready for him...

mini stuff

i have not had time to check posts until today so here goes.....

astrochex
1. Glad to hear from a fellow Auto Banner person.
2. If I joined the credit union at my work I could probably get it down from
6.35% to 6.00%. Is that .35% savings worth starting a new bank
account? I also asked my MA to let me know if they could beat my rate
(doubt it).
3. AAA was almost double the prices I am considering getting :(
thanks for the feedback though.

Gromit801
regarding insurance, get what you pay for, i agree. i pay $600 per year now for unisured motorist and liability (which has been fine for many years on my 88 jeep wrangler). the lowest i can find for full coverage for my mini is $1250 per year and then there are the $2400 per year quotes I am getting (like aaa). I am going with one of the lower ones, but not the lowest.

regarding the picture you posted of the auto banner - THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Blue baby
regarding mods... I plan to get bonnet stripes but chose not to get the dealer ones. Cost was an issue but also I want to get my stripes wider apart (for a more classic look) and didnt care for the white pin stripes (for black stripes) or that they didnt go all the way to the edge. I also plan on adding driving lights (didnt want to pay the 300% dealer install mark up).

Well, if you had ordered the stripes initially, they would have come from the factory with no pin stripes. The S stripes have the pins, or if you get them other than from the factory. Makes no sense, I know. I have aftermarket stripes which I like alot. There are lots of places that make all kinds of "wicked cool" stickers. Cooperflags is very popular down here.

Have fun with the driving lights install! (I know I didn't.) But, hey, maybe you're more mechanical than I am...and possibly live in a cooler climate. One IMPT. note on the install: be extra careful when you're drilling for the rivet (will make more sense when installing). It's real easy to accidentally dent your bonnet from the inside.

He must have started again--I just ordered one. (Just the auto-up; didn't think I needed the track DSC) He'd posted asking who wanted one at MITM, and though I'm not going to Colorado, I followed the link to his web site and ordered one.

For folks who want to know more, it's a circuit that adds the auto-up feature to the windows.
