R53 Production Week 36 (9/4/06)

I did a little mod recently to the hubby's 07' Shelby Cobra GT500. I purchased a HYBRID badge and stuck it on the trunk area. I wanted to do the same to my Mini when it arrives in mid August. I just don't think it will come off as such a strong joke.

We have way too much fun with this little mod! Each time we take it out for a drive we get looks or even asked if it's a real Hybrid. I thought it would really come off as a joke. I didn't think some people would really believe it.
I just posted in a thread here about what your Mini's name is. I was considering Hybrid since this goes over so well on the hubby's car. It's just too believable on a Mini though. I still may purchase the badge and have a little fun.

Have you considered something like a V10 logo? Or 454 or 502 badges for the side? Really through the people off.
And, you can always make up your own.

Good news and bad news.
Good news: The USS is a joy. I am glad I dropped the cash for it, and glad I had NAM friends around to help with the install (not all that hard, BTW).
Bad news: Hit 8k miles this AM (which is fine), but I'll have the car garaged until after its birthday, I fear. Heading out on a business trip Monday, and should be gone until just around Tess's birthday. So, it looks like her miles are going to be stunted at 8k for this year. So be it.
No thrilled with the prospect of being away from (the family and) the car for 3 or 4 months, but hey, what can you do.
8000 good miles. Fast ones, too.

Tess will be waiting when you get back.
And I can't believe you wasted your money on that USS piece o' crap. It's obvious to anyone with a brain than you just need a REAL suspension or otherwise you have a tiny little, eh... thingie.
For those late to the party - it's a USS thing - (ongoing flame war in another thread...)
Just flipped 15K on Blimey this week. Ahhhh.....

DOH!!!
So, I've backed Blimey into my space in the garage 200 times or more without incident - today I wasn't paying attention and clipped my passenger side mirror on the way through the door... popped the mirror cover right off, broke most of the clips... ARRRRGGGHHHH...
So I can pop it back on... it's got some gooberish white house paint transfer on there that I'll have to polish off. May have to use some double-stick-foam tape to keep if from popping back off. Recoverable, but boy did I utter a couple of expletives...

Something like "I'm a bloody idiot!". I did that to my Samurai's right door. Man I was POd. You know a new mirror cap is not that expensive. Did you do any other damage to Blimeys mirror?
Abuvazi, safe travels to a safe part of the world I hope. Tess is a Mystic MINI so she will be waiting faithfully for your safe return. Tie a little yellow ribbon on Tesses steering wheel for good luck, just like the knights of old.

Hi Gang!
The birthday of this thread passed a couple days ago and I forgot to post - oh, the shame...
Hope everyone is still LOVING their MINI as much as I am... I had fun posting on the 2007 Week 36 thread last night... empathizing with the newbies and their waiting pain...
Friends Forever.
(no, I'm not a teenage girl and this is not a yearbook...)

Happy birthday to the thread.
And we ordered our MINI, Motor, a year ago today.
Unfortunately, today instead of celebrating, Motor got backed into by an inattentive SUV driver, and the SUV's trailer hitch did a number on Motor's bumper and hood.

Well, when you get one day off a month, and spend the rest of the time surrounded by military vehicles and folks dressed to look like a tree, Minis tend to not be at the forfront of one's mind. Which is too bad. I had hoped that I would be able to use my time here to do nothing but obsess over what to buy nextr for Tess -- short shifter, smoked tail lights, Borla Exhaust, and so on. Who knows -- maybe things will lighten up for me.

Actually Irvalley, most of us posting to this thread experienced the birth of our Minis exactly a year ago, give or take a few days. We are celebrating our Mini's first birthday. As you can see, we still love our Minis as you will yours.
A year ago the Week 36 Mystic Minis began thier long voyage across the ocean and into our hearts and lives.
Enjoy the anticipation, the sleepless nights and never ending day dreams of the next few weeks. Before you know it, you will be riding your Mystic Mini through the infinite twisties of the great American landscape.
Motor on.
