Proud new member with a question!
Hello all!
I recently became a used MINI owner two weeks ago, and as I was reading through the owner's manual. I thought it was cool how you could open the tailgate by holding down the unlock button on the remote for 5 seconds, but when I tried it, the windows rolled down instead.
What am I doing wrong?
Oh, and here are some pictures of Stella (named after Charlize Theron in The Italian Job
) and my beautiful girlfriend.

ellistotle, what year is your MINI? there was a change in key style, with different buttons, i think for the '05 models. older cars had to choose between comfort opening (the windows) and opening the hatch with the extended hold. this is dealer programmable. newer keys have a separate button for the hatch.

ellistotle - Without trying to sound too randy, nice ride! ![Nod](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/nod.gif)
I think people are getting confised by what 'open' means - IMHO, I always thought it was UNLOCK, and not automagically unLATCH. On my '02, if I barely touch the boot handle to pop the latch and don't pull it up, it'll click back down into the first 'catch' of the latch - which makes the auto-open (unlatch, not unlock) kinda useless in my position. (But my car doesn't do any of that..)
Cheers!
