I'm here, welcome me.

I'm here, welcome me.
Hi all!
I'm new around here, but now so new to the Mini Cooper. A '67 was my very first car (in 1993). I bought it at auction for $1000 and rebuilt it with my dad.
Tomorrow I am picking up what will be my second Mini Cooper; a Hyper Blue base model with something the guy at Asseal Motors calls the "Premium Package." This is a totally different car for me, as I am used to classics, but I am super excited.
Anyway, you'll be seeing a lot of me around here I bet. Hope you all have a great weekend.

I see that a lot of people on the message board here are on a waiting list for their car. Why is this? My dealer had a decent selection on the lot to choose from. Are they harder to get in some areas?

Welcome back to the mini/MINI world!

A large percentage of MINIs are custom-ordered - probably a higher percentage than just about any other car out there, excluding superexotics like the Zonda that are ALL custom-built.
Looking at the options on the car I ordered, I never would have found the identical car on a dealer's lot. I *might* have found one on a lot that was close enough for the dealer to mold/shape/tweak it into the exact car I wanted, but even that wouldn't have been easy.

Kept looking for a smiley face or a wink....something to say the beginning of your post was done tongue in cheek. Didn't find anything. Hmmm. So can I take it that your slave driving 28 year old self is anything other than "I'm here, welcome me" self indulgent arrogant man?
I like MINI's as much as the next person, but shouldn't it be the community that welcomes someone and not someone demanding the attention to be welcomed? Since there was no emoticon signifying otherwise I reserved the right to draw my own conclusions.

I'm a very tongue-in-cheeck kind of guy. Sorry if I came across as an arrogant little punk, but I detest emoticons.
We all have vastly different personalities. If there wasn't that nasty stuck-up guy in The Karate Kid, there would also be no hero....
There, I used one.
