I have an astro black Cooper S ordered. Thanks very much to everyone on NAM. I have been reading and lurking for a couple of months and have learned a lot of valuable info. You guys helped me pick out the right options for me. I am very excited about getting such a great car!

On order:

Astro Black Cooper S
anthracite dash
chrome interior package
chrome exterior package
cold weather package
leatherette seats
xenon headlights
DSC
front and rear fog lights
no armrest, thank you very much

It's great to be a future MINI owner! I am in week 45. Looking forward to an early Christmas present.

Thanks for the welcome.

I am having serious color issues. I chose black by default. I'm a serious person with a serious job, and don't want a jellybean-colored, striped car. They are so cute, but just not for me.

I like all the other colors, but couldn't choose. I didn't want to miss out on getting a 2006, so I went ahead and ordered. I'm waffling between green, red with a black roof , and red with a white roof. Red with a white roof has been done to death around here. But I like it. I'm concerned that a black roof might make the car too hot inside during the summer. With the astro black, I'm getting a body-colored roof and no stripes. Again I'm concerned that the car might get too hot in the summer, and it's so PLAIN. I don't want to spend all this money and wind up with something that looks like a Honda!

How do you get over wondering if you picked the right color, options, etc? Or do you just hang in there until it's too late to make changes?

The silver's and the charcoal option all give you a professional looking color but still looks sweet. Bonnett stripes can be done tastefully on those as well. Welcome and good luck!

Welcome. I ordered mine red and white(still waiting for it) because i love how it looks, at first i always told myself that i wasn't going to get that color because ive seen other MINIs with that color. But i just went with what i liked rather than comparing my MINI to others, i doubt comparing and wishing you got a different color is healthy for the MINI.
Congratulations on your order, whatever color they are; they are loved.

Welcome ! Sounds like a sweet MINI.

And BTW, there's a lot of us serious people with serious jobs that own a "jellybean colored, striped car". You don't have to be Krusty The Clown or work at Burger King to drive an eye-catching car !

Ps. Given your screen name, I can't imagine you're TOO serious.

First off let me say Greetings and Welcome to the NAM family!

I may be wrong but I'm going to venture an opinion here. You may have a serious job but you can still have your cake and eat it too. If you're considering a MINI in CR/W or CR/B then that tells me that a "Bright" color like RED doesn't clash much with the seriousness of your job. If RED is an option, then some of the other colors that are just as bright would seem to fit right in.

C'mon, you're a MINI owner, the car itself speaks volumes for your good taste and, trust me, it will look good in ANY color. As you stated, you don't want to be mistaken for a Honda! (as if that could ever happen with a MINI )

So go ahead, express yourself and choose the color that YOU like, not the color you think that your job dictates! Remember, you own a MINI and that in itself is a statement! I'll parapharase one our NAM members (very appropriate and meaningful) by saying, "Love the life you live and Live the life you love." Enjoy your MINI!

Welcome to the Mini world. I had an occasional bout of second guessing, but, don't worry, it won't look like a Honda. You'll love it and black cars look great. You could always try a frost stripe - I know I would if I had a black one.

Sounds like a fantastic choice of car and options to me (I'd have to have the armrest, though, but to each his/her own!).

I think black is a perfectly great choice.

Thanks for all your replies.

You're right, it won't look like a Honda. Nothing against Hondas, it's just that so many cars on the road look just like them.

You're also correct in that I'm not very serious by nature. But I try hard to keep that side of my personality under wraps at work.

You're also right that I will love my MINI, no matter what color it is.

Still thinking about the color, but I'm not stressing over it.

Life is good - I'm getting a MINI!!!
