2006 MCSa Transmission Indicator Light

(First post, so please keep in mind if haven't followed protocol)

On my 2006 MCSa (July build), the "P" light on the shifter console stays lit even after I turn the car off and remove the key. It even stays lit after the door is closed and the other interior lights dim.

I just assumed that it stayed on for some good reason that I couldn't think of, but, now that passengers keep asking me why it stays on, I thought someone out there might know. Could this be a sign of a problem, or does everyone else's MCSa do the same?

It's normal - but mysterious

All MCSa's do it (actually I think the MCa's do it too).
It goes off after about 4 minutes.

Oh man, as soon as I read the first post I thought about your post on GBMINI Ian. Yah now just watch those with the Nav and how it stays lit too. Mine seems always on

the mystery of P

--It goes off when you lock the car. Fun little quirks about the MINI make me love it.

Also did ya know that when your car is already locked and you hit the lock button again the internal lights come on? After a full year my MINI is still my favorite toy.

Thanks for the feedback

Glad to know it is a "feature" and not a problem!

It also goes off if you do not lock your car. I asked Waylen about it this summer and he says it's normal on the new MINIs.
