Delayed! !@#$%

MA called this morning to say that my Cooper was not on the Don Juan, that it was not delivered to the VDC on 11/28. He said it is now scheduled to arrive on 12/15, but didn't have a ship name. I checked the Owner's Lounge and found no new info - the VIN associated with my Production Number is the same as ever and the W&W shipping site still shows it was on the Don Juan that arrived 11/28. Is this a typical runaround? I visited the Port Hueneme VDC tour info posted on NAM and am worried that my Cooper is having some pre-delivery surgery at the VDC. Anyone know if the ASK MINI line would have any better information? Or should I call the dealer back and speak to someone else to get some unfiltered info?

Ugh, "pre-delivery surgery" is/was one of my greatest fears. The combination of W&W showing it boarded on the Don Juan AND your MA not being able to locate a different ship is a bit weird. I've no idea of how much knowledge a MA has when it comes to tracking orders, but I would bring it to the attention of a manager as well as talking with a live person at ASK MINI. If in fact your MINI is getting some work done @ the VDC then hopefully it's something minor and it's being done right (afterall, it's probably better to discover a problem @ the VDC than in the middle of a road trip).

Mine was on the Don Juan and was on a truck on 12/4 and should be at the dealership (in Denver) on Monday. MAYBE your MA just messed-up a bit and your car has is already on a truck -- that would be cool.

Joe

I share in your story. I also was on the Don Juan and my MA is telling me that mine won't arrive in Tacoma until 12/20. I too am concerned about damage during transit. I am of the understanding that if there was damage in excess of 3% of the value that it has to be disclosed to us and that we have the option of not taking delivery.

At this point, I'm not sure what to make of this timing.

New Day, New Status

Checking the Owner's Lounge daily, today's visit brought a change in status to "At Distribution Center". I checked the HTML for the page and found "Estimated+Delivery+Date%3A&DateDate=12%2F15%2F2006" buried deep within. Maybe this means I can return to my cautiously optimistic ways and hold out hope for taking delivery this weekend. (Sigh!)

I have my MINI!!!

It was SO worth the wait! When I walked into the dealership, my baby was front and center with the lights shining down on it. I wanted to give it a hug, but gave one to my MA instead. I opened the door and breathed in that "new shoes" scent. The next three hours did not go by fast enough, but finally I got to crank it up and hear the engine rumble. I have not stopped grinning ever since.

I wish you all speedy delivery.

Glad to hear your wait is over! Post up some pics when you get a chance and change your signature picture! Get out there and hit the twisties!

My OL status still says EN ROUTE even tho the 2wglobal site says my car was delivered to the port on 12/07/06...

I wouldn't go by the OL... they say my car is already delivered when in fact it hasn't yet.

Arrived at the Dealer

Good news at last! The dealer called my wife () today to say that our little one had arrived. Too bad work and family schedules leave me waiting to the weekend to take delivery!! Thanks to all in this community for support and good cheer. May all your Minis come home to roost in short order.

Just checking in to see how everything was going for the people waiting on their Minis. Glad to see some deliveries taking place! Can't wait to see some photos.

I posted up some photos of my Mini (I know finally!) in another post. You guys will have to check it out and see what you think.

It is well worth the wait I promise you that

The Eagle has Landed

Took delivery of a bouncing baby Cooper today (RG/S with Silver Bonnet Stripes and the Premium, Sport, Convenience, and Cold Weather packages). Just in time for a Sunday - Tuesday round trip from SoCal to Berkeley and back. Will post pix as soon as we take some. No time today, but opportunity may knock tomorrow or on the trip. Again my thanks to this community of kindred spirits for all the support during my last dreadful weeks of waiting. May all your Minis bring you joy at this season and for many years to come.

That's excellent news. So it looks like you may have been on the Don Juan afterall and your MA was unable to track it after it left the VDC (??). I don't think they have great tracking ability once it goes on a truck.

Anyway... I suppose it doesn't really matter now!

When in Berkeley, take your MINIm to Grizzly Peak. I've only been there once, but I remember the great roads and views. Looking forward to pics.

Cool, you have the same car as mine, but delivered a year later. I took delivery one year ago today of my RG/S.

I didn't have time to do the Grizzly Peak drive this trip, but am VERY familiar with it (having grown up there). There are lots of great drives in the Bay Area and I look forward to trying them all int he coming years. The next "battle" will be convincing my wife that taking the Mini to Berkeley is better than taking her minivan...
