Hi Everyone

I'm new to this forum, though I've been reading it for a while now. I was always interested in Mini's and I love the way they look.

Great news!!!

Today, I just picked up a 2004 MCS from the dealer and I drove it to work, I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH I LOVE IT, and to top it all of it's my birthday tomorrow!

Is this the start of a huge addiction?

Hey Guys, I haven't told my GF that I even got a new car, and I'm planning on driving to her house tonight after work and surprising her with it, what do you think the best way to do that would be, I would love to hear your suggestions.

Pick up one dozen clowns. No, too obvious. Drive to her house and park out of site. Tell her you need her to come out to the car with you to carry all your stuff in because you lost your job and will be moving in. No, too dramatic. Why don't you just show her the thread over on "MINI Talk" about how to, um, engage in amourous behavior in a MINI?!

LOL I saw that thread a little earlier today, it was hilarious, but I'm not trying to make excuses on why I got it, just want to get the best reaction from her, not that you were implying that professor dave but others maybe thought that's what I meant. She'll most likely love it!!

The way to get the best reaction is to tell her you bought it for her not at all thinking of yourself first. If you don't give it to her she might be a little jealous.

Oh and Welcome.

Welcome to the NAM family Viper and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The MINI is a hoot to drive... left me with the biggest grin on my face after I first drove one!

I'm afraid that even a trip to the Betty Ford Clinic will not cure you of the MINI addiction! One time behind the wheel and it will last a lifetime!

BTW, any pics of your new MINI? Sharing is good with your new NAM brothers & sisters!

I'm a new kid (at 53) on the block here too. Got my Mini 3 months ago and have been too busy to pay much attention to what is out there, so I just stumbled into this place today. All things considered, I made some compromises in what I ordered for the sake of family harmony (as in, my better half doesn't know how to drive a stick and rebelled at the thought of having to learn). Oh well, I'm finding the paddle shifters make driving the car like playing a video game and it still has plenty of kick when you wind it out and pop it from gear to gear. I've just started making some minor modifications and already I see this is becoming a dangerous addiction. This is what I got, before I started to tinker.

TOTAL MSRP AS CONFIGURED* $32,750

Driving Lamps (installation not incl.) $400
Checkered Flag Mirror Caps (installation not incl.) $118
Checkered Flag Wind Deflector (installation not incl.) $475
Sun Shade (installation not incl.) $48
"S" Rubber Floor Mats (front) (installation not incl.) $70
Black Rubber Floor Mat (back) (installation not incl.) $30
Black Rubber Floor Mat (boot) (installation not incl.) $50
4 Valve Stem Caps Checkered Flag (installation not incl.) $16

TOTAL ACCESSORIES ** $1,207
TOTAL MSRP AS CONFIGURED* $32,750

TOTAL COMBINED $33,957

After all this I added a JCW air box and strut brace, a parcel shelf, a glove box organizer, stainless steel grills to replace the front and rear factory black plastic ones and stainless steel bezels for the air intakes below the windshield, a checkerboard mirror cap for the interior rear view, a factory Mini black rear bumper protector (which had to be modified to fit, since it is not really made for the convertible), matching Union Jack/Checkerboard badges that I adhered to the driving lamp covers, a set of eye decals for under the hood, a car cover, and an assortment of antennae toppers (as well as a stubby antenna as an alternate) including Curly (3 Stooges), an 8-ball, a GD Stealie, and a GD Psycle Sam. Now I’m looking at different bonnet scoops that will enlarge the air intake capacity. Any suggestions?

Here's a question, after these few changes, I have extra stock grills front (top and bottom, don't ask) and rear. Does anyone ever sell these things and if so where and how (other than resorting to eBay)?

Hey Viper, and welcome to NAM.
I may have missed it, but specs on the car are a must around here .
Details!!!

Oh, and just tell the GF that she doesn't need to get you a birthday present, she can just chip in on the one you got yourself. (ok, don't really do this, it may irk her!).

Well I'm not quite sure what kind of specs you're looking for but it's a 6 speed with all sorts of power stuff like windows, doorlocks, pano sunroof, it's red with white stripes and white rims, leather heated seats and I guess all the other options you can get for that year.

Oh and I'll have pics by this weekend!!
