Hello to the distinguished Forum members.

I am new to this very interesting Forum.
I just bought new a base 2006 Mini.
Pics will come at a later stage.

I already need to take advantage of the knowledge and the expertise of the Members with the following question ( I apologize if this issue has been already debated at length).

I am thinking about an oil + filter change at 1,000 miles which is out of the maintenance scheduled by the manufacturer.

If I do it, by myself or through a local shop, does it affect the warranty?

Thanks for your attention.
Enjoy your weekend

Hi Tess, and welcome!
Your question is very astute and not dumb in the least. Please change your oil as often as you like. The only thing that may affect your warranty is not changing often enough.
As long as you document what you do, all will be fluffy bunnies and rainbows.
Show up at the dealer with 20k miles and no paperwork, well, better hope you brought the KY.

Yes, this is discussed regularly on the forum will some disagreement. I too think the original oil should be changed before the standard 10,000 first change. You can do it yourself or have the dealer do it and pay for it. Your maintenance program will only pay when your light comes on. You changing the oil will not void the warranty.

WELCOME!

Thanks to all for your answers.
I do not intend to change oil and filter every 3,000 miles .
But I like to do it during the break in period after which I'll follow the scheduled, mandatory, must be, etc.... schedule set up by the manufacturer.

I selected the most basic Mini for the sole purpose of using it in town and/or close intra cities. I am living in Palm Beach County.

And there is also the nostalgia of my 1964 Cooper 1300cc or ist it the nostalgia of my youth?
