Bonnet Stipes ?

I decided I want bonnet stripes now for my MCS that I am picking up in a week. I called the dealer and they said they want $220 for them installed. I have the sport package on my car but said that i didnt want the stripes included when I ordered my cooper. Where are bonnet stripes usually installed at?? I was under the impression that the stripes were installed at the dealer when the car arrived there. Should they be obligated to install the stripes at this point for free since I have the sport package?

The problem would probably be that the factory would hanlde the installation as part of the sport package, the dealer would have to charge to pick up their cost for the install. I think the strips cost about $100 if you buy them outright.

you could try to argue for a freebie since your car was delayed a week later than promised..

I just did mine myself this week and it was a piece of cake and other than detailing stuff, I am not handy in even the most creative of descriptions. Now, having done it, I would never pay anyone more than $50 or so for the install. Now, if that includes the stripes themselves, that might be an okay deal, depending on what kind they are. But if they're just regular, solid, one-color stripes, you can get them elsewhere for $40-75 depending on the type, and just do it yourself for free!

They put the stripes on at the dealer. I paid about $220 as well for mine. I hear they are pretty easy to install yourself though so maybe you want to consider that instead???? Personally, I just didn't want to worry about it although I am considering buying some for the boot and installing them myself.

ITs cheaper just to buy the stripes yourself and put them on. The dealer charges way too much!

Buy them and install them yourself or take them to a place that does vehicle graphics. My dealer wanted $220 just for the installation(stripes were another $80). I took them to a friend who owns a sign shop and he installed them for free and it took 5-10 minutes. When I told him how much the dealer wanted to charge he about fell out of his chair laughing. I don't remember what he said he would have charged under normal circumstances, but it was much less than $50.

You could also do what many of us have done and get less expensive stripes from a vendor on NAM and do it yourself.

If you get stripes at other than dealer, you have a lot more choices. If I had it to do over again, I'd get black with chrome (instead of white) edges.

For the MCS, they install them at the factory if requested as part of the order, otherwise they install them at the dealer. They are always installed at the dealer for the MC... I lucked out and got mine free!
