I got the fourth year of service free as part of the apology package for the "double-VIN convertible" mixup, but I've always been curious about it. What services would likely come due during the extra one year / 14,000 miles?

It seems like it would get you one extra oil change, and maybe brake pads, if they hadn't needed replacing during the first 36,000 miles. Is there anything else big that would be covered that would make the extended service worth $1000?

My experience at Baron BMW was exactly the opposite. The car had the most tiny imperfection imaginable in the bumper facia, right on the corner of it, could only see it with the light at the right angle... They agreed to replace the bumper facia. I waited a day, then called them back and said, "Tell you what, how about you throw in a set of nice sport pedals and we call it even? " They were only too happy to oblige since replacing the bumber would have been much more labor intensive.

I guess I'm just lucky to have bought my Mini from such a responsive dealership. Maybe you folks out in LaLa land should consider buying your next Mini here in Kansas City. Would be kind of a long drive for warranty work, but at least you could count on being treated with respect and courtsey KC style.

How much of a brake job can you get with the free scheduled maintenance program? Pads and rotors, or just pads? Still doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me.

Complete brake job.. The extended wervice isn't $1000 though. It was 600 or 700. My wife insisted that I get it. I could have cared less.

Assael offered the extended service for $795. I refused it since I can get it at any time. Though the prices may change. I don't know if I will even have the car that long. I might get a new one when the new engine proves worthy.

What kind of deals would one get on trading in a car that isn't paid off? i've seen this in ads all the time, but never really understood how that made sense. I should have mine paid off in 2 or 3 years, but what if I wanted to trade it early? Just curious.

My last car I had for thirteen years. I plan on keeping my other car until it is 10 years old. It just might be a possibility that I don't keep this one as long. Right now, I'm not giving it up.

Dude its not just you, it seems like everywhere you go the Mini's are the stepchild of a BMW dealer. They'd much rather spend time on BMW owner's than Mini owners....why?? Cuz they dropped at least twice the amount of dough on their car. I think that's all just part of the crappy deal of owning a Mini, along with a handful of other things. I brought my car in for a TON of warranty work back in the summer and I fought with the service advisor to get a loaner for three days and when I finally got one it was an old lincoln town car (cop car called a lincoln) I was pretty upset about that. I even called my salesman and told him what happened and he didn't stick up for me at all. Its just part of the superb service that goes along with owning a Mini (aka. poor mans BMW)

Scratch or no scratch, My family just had a great 400 mile drive up and down the Santa Barbara coast. It handled like a dream. The only bummer was no being able to see what it could realy do. My MA didn't tell me but I believe that I read the break-in period is 1250 miles keeping it under 4500 rpm. Is that what is recommended?
It sure did turn quite a few heads.

1250 miles...keep it below 4500RPM. Sounds about right, but don't worry if you break the rules a few times - I know I did .

Oh, one thing from you signature I noticed, FYI, the MCS does not have a CVT transmission (which comes in the automatic Cooper), but rather a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission. No big deal, just thought you might like to know .

Civil MCS : I just picked up my MCSca 2 weeks ago from Alexander. My MA seems nice enough,a bit greenhorn. I had a scratch on the door and they said they will re-paint the door,so I am following this thread in case they start to do any funny business with me...
Asseal wants over sticker and the same with Universal .My next MINI will be ordered and sent in from the east coast or anywhere else where I can get a MINI at MSRP /// My MCSca was a demo and I got it a bit below sticker price with 800+ miles on it.. So I'm praying that I got a non-lemon...km

My MA was awesome. I got Mats and a key chains for having to sit there for an extra hour because the Finance Manager was being a pre-madonna about me moving between the time I put down my deposit and taking delivery. (Which was explained as I put down my deposit)

I would definitely be asking for more. There's a part of me that wouldn't have taken the car considering the issues you were having. Unless it's perfect, I'm not taking it home.

I would have walked on mine, hadn't I liked my MA and the Mini Manager. That's how much the Finance Manager pissed me off.

That sounds about right for a finance manager....they are one of a kind. Wouldn't hesitate to rip off their own mother as long as to make a buck. Guess that's why dealers love them so much, they're always looking out for the dealer owner's pockets.

Nick Alexander charges a higher markup than Assael. They also require you to purchase the extended warranty. Just so ya know.

All of the dealerships have their pros and cons.

I just got done washing it for the first time. Fine scratches and swirls all over the top and a scratch down the rear quarter. We'll see if they will take care of that one. One more reason to take delivery during the day. There were also tool marks all over the JCW strut brace. In all reality though, whos going to see that the service technicians and me when I want to see how pretty the engine is. Its not a show vehicle after all.
I did manage to get Lo-Jack installed this morning. The only way I could tell anyone was there was by a few metal shavings in the floor mat.

At least the vehicle is safe now!!!

Is this documented? Or did you have them document it?

The scratch on the roof and the door are known by the MA. The rest are undocumented. They look like they can be removed with a good buffing though. We'll have to see what they are willing to fix. The MA seems to be a good guy. He is highly recommended by others.

Hmm I got a hat and basket of food and coffee and stuff without having to go through all that mess. Oh, and some floor mats from the really flirty girl working the accessories department.

%@#% I just realized, they only put on the bonnet chrome grille and not the bumper. Though I was charged for it. Just adding on to my list.

When will this all end??????????????????????????????????????????????? ???
