My car is here, just have to wait to get it.

Warning, bit of a long story..........

I posted a while back in athread here that I had ordered right after the very last day you could order an '06 because the dealer had got a few extra allotments. After a couple of days the MA called and said the day before was actually the last day (2 days after Mini had cut off the ordering).

We'll we went over the cars slated for production that were not claimed and finally narrowed it down to 1 that was exactly as i had ordered but missing the convinience package. Since that did not bother me, and the dealer still had my deposit, I told them to claim that car.

The whole while I have been trying to sel my house in S. Florida since I have moved to Raleigh and while I have money I was waiting for the house to close to put a sizable chunk of change down.

We'll the dealer got the car the day after thanksgiving and finally today to got to go look at it. No I did not take possesion of the car because my house technically has not sold. I have an offer on the table as of today and another one is coming tomorrow. Also a person is relocating form out-of-town and has stated he will make an offer if the house is like what he has seen. Hopfully by tomorrow I will have sold my house.

The big issue is I have to wait for the house to close to get the money to put down. Again, i can afford the car now but want a sizable cunk down on it. I wil say the MINI is exactly what I have been wanting. I had wanted a pepper white and glad I did. It looks beter in person than in pictures.

When I posted before Annette invited me to join the Peerage of the Pepper White but I did not since the car was up in the air. Honestly, there is still chance I could not take the car but if everything works out tomorrow that will very minor.

The dealer is being a really good sport and holding the car for me until the end of Dec. but could hold it a few extra days if needed for my house to close. I cannot say how much that still amazes me and I thnak them for doing it. The have, however, offered me to purchase the car now, with no or little money down, and not have payments for 90 days. It is a great offer but the wife is hesitant since she is afraid the closing could fall through (always posible) and we would be stuck with a car payment. The big thing for me is I need to check on seeing how easy it would be to re-finance the car once my home closes putting the amount down I want too.

Anyway the specs are thus.....

PW/B MINI Cooper S manual
Sport, Premium, and Cold Weather packages
Harmon Kardon audio
Anthracite dash and headliner
Rear fog
Web spoke wheels
No Bonnet Strips
Black Leatherette seats
Center Armrest

I do have a few questions. I am wondering what it will cost me to have the dealer install the guage package on either side of the cluster and the aero side skirts? I also am wondering whether to get sirius or not. I like the serivce but to be honest I will mostly listen to my ipod while driving. Lastly, I am getting the invisable sheild protection for the front since on a white you cannot see it even under the right lighting. I saw a pepper white with it added under parking lot lamps and I could feel it and could only see it if I got within a few inches of the hood surface to see it.

I will be ordering the M7 strut reinforcement plates immdiately and a little later on (late spring/ early summer) will put on Koni FSD's to improve the ride.

Anyway Hello and hopefully I get the car soon and post pics.

I do too. I normally wouldn't even post this but I needed to get it out. I was quite bummed when I left since the car was still there. Probably good the MA I have been dealing with was not there. He was going to let me drive the car. I would have been even more bummed.

Welcome to Raleigh and congrats on your new MINI! I moved up here from S. FL in June and got my MINI in September. I hope everything works out for you soon. I have no doubt that you will get everything taken care of with your house since S. FL is a very desirable are for some people.

I jsut had to post that I finally got my MINI. I picked it up yesterday. It is the one I listed in the first post and since the dealer was an hour-and-a-half away I got to get a little familiar with the car on the way back. Had a blast but found that the runflats on teh highway are just as rough as poeople have posted.

Think I am going to try some Koni FSD's first and see if that helps. That will have to wait for a short time but I have teh M7 strut plates on order.

Anyway, having a blast and I will try to post some pics in the next couple of days. Guess I need to look into the peerage of the peeper white!!!

Congrats on your new MINI. Sounds like a great car, love the color. Before buying new shocks you might want to check the tire pressure. My tires were very over inflated when I brought mine home. Putting the proper pressure in helped. Putting non-runflats on helped more.

Thanks for holding that spot Annette. I just need to get over to that thread and claim it. As for the house it actually has not sold. I just got a little creative to make things work. I have an offer right now that I am mulling over but it is not quite what I want.

Thanks for the tip on the tire pressure. I test drove a couple of different ones a few months ago (1 with 16" wheels and 2 with 17" wheels) and none of them seemed to ride as rough. I'll check out the tire pressure tomorow and see what it is.

Thanks for all of the support and I promise again that pictures will be posted soon.
