Welcome NAM! Glad to see you're taking your time in finding the "right" car. Once you think you found it, have it checked out by a MINI dealer if possible, even if it does cost you some $$$.
I once was very close to buying a 911 Cabriolet. I was really anxious to get a car like this. I knew it had a couple things wrong with it and needed some TLC to make it right, but the price was right. Another Porsche friend recommended I pay a Porsche dealer $50 to check it out. Within the hour they called and said NOT to buy this car as it was about three cars cobbled into one! The numbers didn't make on the transmission to engine to the VIN. That was the best $50 I ever spent on a car I didn't own.
Good luck!
