HELP!!! JCW Air Intake

Hello, I am brand new. Just bought a 06 MCS. Am in the process of changing the intake and can figure out how to and if it is the right vacuum hose to take out. Any advise and pictures will definitely be appreciated.

Are you installing or removing the JCW intake box?

Just took these photos. I didn't install mine [came installed from the dealer]. However, there is a small black "Y" that gets installed at the vacuum line connection and a small piece that connects back to the Back Pressure Relief Valve (BPV). The other side of the "Y" goes to the JCW intake. Make sure to really plug in this JCW line on the air box side [it's a hard fit] as mine blew off on the day I picked it up! Took me a few weeks to figure out what was up with my occilating throttle.

Watch out for the "hot" (red)cable on the computer frame, good idea to disconnect the battery ! Also the connection to the ECU wiring is like brain surgery ,for me anyways!

Thanx for the replies. Good hint also on the battery, will do that on my next attempt. Any more pointers on how to reach in there. I am assuming it is the black hose and not the grey one right? I have an 06' MCS. My hands are pretty small I would think versus a guys' and I can't get in there. Any more advise would be appreciated with lots of detail please as this is my first mod ever. Patiently waiting for that cool supercharger sound, hope its all worth it.

was also wondering if that red spacer on the vacuum line or the red ring. When i am pulling on the hose that seems to be pulling with it. Is that normal. Is the red ring suppose to break off or something. Any advise would be appreciated.

It's quite far down in there. I removed the intercooler cover. That let me see what I was doing a little better.

Yes, the vacuum hoses are black but appear grey in the photos. I have a 2006 MCS too which the photos show.

The space is very limited (around the BPV) and looks like maybe taking the black plastic intercooler cover off will help?

Not sure about the "red spacer", please be more specific, maybe a photo for us to review?

I don't recommend breaking anything when you are in there. Again, remove the black intercooler plastic cover (torque screw driver req.) and then you will see better for the vacuum lines.

Also, see post 36 in this thread.

I posted my method for the electrical connections. It worked great. Better than other splicing/soldering methods.

Was anyone able to get the existing hose clamp on the exit of the CAI clamped back up. I was not and it is still not clamped/hooked/engauged. I have a replacement clamp, but wondering if anyone was successful and what was the method and tool that did the job.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been w/o my car for 5 days going on 6 and missing it more everyday. Here is the picture of the red ring I was talking about. Let me know. And as for the last question. I went to the dealer and they showed me how to put the clamp back on.

The small piece where you hook it back on. The long line you hook it back in with a flat head. Use a flat nose plier to bend it back and then it should slide right on. Will try to get some photos for this. I know i am not describing that well. Will get the camera tomorrow to try to demonstrate. Hope that helps.

I just completed an install of a JCW CAI on my 2006 MCSCa and if you are taking something off with a red ring, you are removing the wrong hose. The 1/4" hose is friction fit onto the back of a pneumatic actuator. I removed my intercooler to make things a bit easier. Removing the intercooler was quite easy and gave me more room to get at the connection.
