Oil Changes

Greetings. I have an 02 Mini. Since the warranty has expired, I would like to stop going to the BMW dealer for expensive oil changes and use a local Valvoline service center. I know I will have to switch oil brands etc. Has anyone else done this? I'm guessing that there should not be any problems. Thanks.

It's no problem at all to stop using the dealer, but I'd encourage you to do your own changes or go to a good shop. I'd steer clear of the quick oil change centers in general. Once you have the shallow socket to change the oil and do a search for step-by-step instructions on this site you should be able to DIY OK. Just remember to use a good quality fully syntheic oil- and an OEM filter seems to work best.

DIY, its easy just as fast and muuuuuuuuuch ess expensive if you're an able person. But I also now some have an aversion to mechanics; whatever you do just keep it a 5W-30 FULL SYNTHETIC
