Is the sticker price final?
Hello Everyone!
I'm thinking about ordering a MCS soon, if I ever decide what color, options, etc etc . I spoke with the sales person at the mini dealer, and he said that they don't cut prices, or hike them up, the sticker price is final! I"ve bought new cars before and they have always cut me a deal. Why is it different with MINI?

and the world of paying sticker or in some cases more for your car.
MINI is and has been since it's U.S. launch a much desired car and with that comes sticker price or above.
There are a few cases that i have heard of when people did receive $500.00 bucks off but in most cases it is sticker or above.

The final price is the amount you end up writing on your check when you buy the car.
But the vast majority of us paid MSRP, some paid more if they bought from crooked dealers in high demand areas of the country (mostly California), a very few paid a little less than MSRP, and a lot of us got a few freebies or discounts on accessories.
But you won't find any sort of promotional 0% financing, $5000 rebates, etc.

Basically the demand for MINIs is greater than the supply. There are less than 100 dealers in the USA and the number of cars sent over is limited, thus they don't have to discount to sell them. Some dealers, notably in Calif., even mark them up over sticker price. Some dealers will throw in some freebies at delivery but I think you will find true discounts almost impossible to find on the new models. They just were introduced here last month. You might get a discount on an in-stock 2006 model.

Yup Noobs that's how it works. Wecome to world of MINI ownership. Sometimes demos are knocked down some, but MSRP-no-more is the general mantra.
And hey it's kinda nice to know what you're paying less than 10 minutes or so after getting to the d'ship. Nice and relaxing.
And for those of you still not used to paying sticker: your car will NOT depreciate the minute you drive it off the lot, unlike most other new cars. So take that to the bank and celebrate!

Hey, let's cut a little slack...especially for a first post!! There is a lot of info here on NAM and ways to get at it....takes time to figure it all out is all.
Surprisingly, many dealers are now taking $1K to $1.5K off of '06s on the lot...that has never happended before! Not sure if you'd find that out in a search!!!
Oh....and welcome to NAM!!!

I feel your pain MiniMartha, as a person that always paid invoice price for my cars, It was tough to make a decision to pay MSRP for a cooper. But now that I have a cooper I realize that its way better built than most of the other cars I owned so It's not too bad. Try to see if you can get discounts but MSRP is how they sell them =(

The difference is a simple law of economics - competition, supply and demand. Due to limited supply, dealers can charge MSRP knowing that if you aren't willing to pay it, there are probably five other people out there who are. You aren't going to find that with your Civics, Camrys, etc. because there are several alternatives to a Civic to choose from. MINI is one of a kind, and if you really want one, there's not too many alternatives to walk away to. My dealer offered me a credit toward accessories of my choice without any haggling from my end, I just asked what kind of incentive I had to buy from them as opposed to any other dealer, since all things are equal price-wise.
The alternative is to try to find an 06 that you like with a discount.

Looks like I'll be ordering soon, Thinking about pepper white. I can't decide wheather to get a sunroof or not, wish that the sun screen blocked more light! Living in Florida I'd only use it at night.

Yes, MSRP is usually the only way on a new MINI. If your lucky a few trinkets thrown in. Even used MINIs are being sold at or near their original price. About the only way to get a sizable discount is to by used from a non-enthusiast who decides the car is not right for them. There are some decent buys but it takes a lot of looking.

The remaining 06 S's are being discounted to rid them off dealer's lots. this is the only time I've seen a non-demo S get some kind of discount. About $600-$1,000 at my d'ship, and the more loaded they are (esp. with dealer-installed accessories) the more wriggle room there is. 2006 MCS's above $30K are the easiest to barter on....
And I dont think Putz was being hostile, it's just there are so danged many threads on this subject, a little search will answer most of your ??'s But GKR is right: no search would give you the latest info, just the most general.
Again welcome to NAM!

look for the 06 model if you want to haggle. in my case i did not. i just emailed the dealerships in my area, we have 3 here in IL. he offered me $1200 off on the car of my choice. I immediately scheduled the next day for that car. i already have my financing from my credit union and saved for more than 20% down. my MA look confused he thought I'll only have a test drive. before i went there i already ordered an 07 form another dealer but when i looked to check my mini it was filthy inside and out and left it outside with snowstorm in our area! so i rejected it and they gave me back my $500 deposit.
