MINI noob

Hello all. I'm very interested in the Mini Cooper S. I'm still about a year away from buying my next car, but if you're like me, it's never to early to start dreaming. Anyways, I have a few questions, I hope you guys can answer about the Mini.

1. I'm 5' 11''. Do you guys think the car is too small for me?

2. Can the ASC be turned off?

3. How responsive is the throttle? My current car has an e-throtlle, and it has a ton of free play, and it just feels laggy.

4. Are the cars sold at MSRP prices, or are there dealer mark ups?

5. What happened to the Mini Cooper Works, the 200 HP one? Was that ever available in the US? Will it ever be available in North America? I went to the Mini website, but it wasn't there.

Thanks

I'm 5'11" also and the car isn't too small for me. If you surf the boards enough, you will notice that many folks over 6' tall drive MINIs. The ASC can be turned off if you order the optional DSC - a toggle switch then turns both on/off. MINIs sell at MSRP - if dealers have any leftover '06s, some are discounting them now. Some dealers (mostly west coast) stiff people with mark ups. Can't answer the throttle question as I have an '06.

Welcome to NAM!

The car will not be too small, I have an 07 MCS and am 6ft 5" tall.

ASC can be turned off (there's a button by the gear stick).

Can't help with 4 as I'm not in the US, however discounts on new models are few and far between. There are a number of threads on this on the forum.

The Works version of the 07 is not yet out.
Throttle response is great, gets even better if you have a model with a Sport button (stiffens steering and increases throttle response as well as adding more troque for a short time. ).

Welcome to NAM!! I'm 6'2" and 300+ and have to pull the seat up to reach the pedals properly.
