R60 Countryman Photos

I didn't change the springs cause the car came with 20's and I thought well I'm going to change wheels, then I bought a WAY rear sway cause I was used to my R53 Works...so I changed the springs and sway and left the springs....for now....and just added the front strut bar.....I'm not an aggressive driver and don't track....but when I want to do something, I can....which is cool.

We have two kids, a 4.5 year old and an 11mo old. We bought my wife's countryman when the baby was six months old. Two car seats and all the kids stuff, plus two adults, no problem. Well, unless the stroller is one of these… http://www.toxel.com/tech/2013/08/02...baby-stroller/
My wife was convinced a countryman would be too small. (She drive a Subaru outback for years and years.) then she examined one in person, and said "okay, I'll try driving it." We loaded me and a baby seat and our baby in the back of an ALL4, stuck our friendly MINI salesman in the front with her, and took it for a spin.
Even with the full load and sport mode not turned on, she had a total ball.
Car sold itself. :-)

Here's some stuff posted on Edmunds site about cargo space:
http://www.edmunds.com/mini/cooper-c...rgo-space.html
A google image search turned up an image of 2 car seats in the back, And it is a 4 door which helps with the kidlet in and out too.

Not to be excessively contrary, but I think we need to get you mroe pictures. show her baby seats, and strollers and even the comfortable seating of 4 adults. Surely we can get you the evidence to bring her around. Maybe also:
The MINI roof cargo box also helped make the sale for my wife. It's not always on the car, but it takes about 5min to put it on the roof for road trips.
OP, since your wife won't come to the dealer, how about bringing the car to her? That's why dealers have dedicated demo cars — to help sell cars.

That spare appears to be the Mercedes SLK Compact Folding Spare, part number 1704010502. You can pick them up on eBay from time to time. Here's one from my watch list:
MERCEDES SLK230 space saver spare wheel 1705840538
Always check the photos of the tread — I've seen a couple show up with bald treads, no good.
You'll also need an adapter kit from these guys: http://www.tdnparts.com/spare-tire-adapter-kit/
Don't forget an air compressor to inflate the spare.

As for strollers, we have a Maclaren Quest Sport and it just fits folded-up widthwise in the trunk. This is with it up against the trunk door (for easier access) which is a bit narrower too. Originally I'd thought that we would need to fold down the center seatback and fit it in lengthwise, but that turned out not to be the case. Larger (wider) strollers should also fit as long as they do not exceed the length of the Maclaren when folded. By the way, the rear bench can slide forward 5" for additional trunk space (though we keep ours all the way back for max passenger space).
Another advantage of the CM's trunk is that it is quite tall (especially with the false floor removed). I'm thinking that my son's Smart Trike should fit back there too (with the rear shelf removed) though I have yet to actually try this.
Anyways you should go check out the CM at the dealer. I think we were in a similar situation as you and IMHO it is a nearly perfect* car for my wife and son (*it will be perfect once I install a backup camera).

We got the countryman specifically for the kids. We can easily fit 2 car seats plus a 10 year old in the back seat of mine (get diono rxt car seats, very narrow and work as a booster, my kids love theirs) and our bugaboo bee stroller fits easily in the back with lots of extra space. Pm me your email and I'll send you some pics :-)

The first photo is of our stroller in the trunk - as you can see there is still plenty of room for other things. And having the stroller against the door makes it easier to get it in/out of the trunk.
The next two are of the carseat in the back. Note that the driver's seat is adjusted to my driving position (as I mentioned earlier I'm 6' tall) and there is still lots of room behind it. One thing that might be limiting is the width of the rear seat - our carseat is right up against the seat belt buckle.
You didn't mention who would be the primary driver, but the Countryman has great visibility (except for the rear - make sure you get the parking assist/radar) and the compact and squarish dimensions makes it really easy to drive and park.
Anyways, I hope this helps and good luck!

My R60 XD71
My ALL4 is a bit different from most of yours, it's just a regular Cooper (non-S). However, it does have the turbo engine as you can see in the photo below:
And here's a peak at the intercooler (I'm surprised by how small it is):
In case you're curious, the production code for the Cooper ALL4 automatic is XD71.

Powerbook, just to pile on. I have two kids and I'm the primary dropper-offer/picker-upper of our two kids. Both boys are forward facing now in Recaro Pro Sport (or whatever the equivalent new model car seat is, one is newer than the other) and they love it. We can put a stroller in the boot, but normally don't. An infant carrier takes up room, and needs to be on the passenger side so the front seat can go up but that is par for the course as far as infant carriers go. If your kids are forward facing, get em some harness-to-booster seats that are forward facing and go for the Countryman!
