Auto Start/Stop Function

So in the MotoringFile Friedman/Kung interview from NAIAS, they discussed the Auto Start/Stop function. This function will NOT be available for the US cars ordered, even with manual, correct??

Interesting, because the new Porsche Panamera has this feature and it's in the U.S.A.

Today This feature is rarely found in US cars unless they are hybrids. Auto makers don't believe we are ready for it apparently. Not sure that I am, actually.

In 2012, Ford will start offering across their gas lineup and others will follow suit I suspect.

mmm i can't understand it.... here in europe now is pretty common to find new cars with start/stop system... I think it's something useful, especially while driving in cities
First time i test drove the country i didn't know that it had it, when i approached a traffic light the car went off and i was ... When i came green in the amount of time necessary to insert the first gear it was already on

I thought that it was also related to the current EPA testing not reflecting any benefit of the start/stop system, based on how the test(s) are currently designed.

The manufacturer would have added expense for something that wouldn't be reflected in the EPA results. So no perceived benefit.
