Totally agree!
I've always found MINI marketing to be extremely clever, hip and tasteful. My guess is that in this instance they are lowering their standards to cater to the football crowds who appear to appreciate all the other typically crass and juvenile commercials that air during their games.

I would have to agree. I thought the best commercial was the VW Darth Vader with the kid. Priceless!

The VW/Darth Vader would be my #1. The Bridgestone Beaver was clever so I rate it #2. I missed seeing a really good Budweiser Clydesdale mini-movie...they're usually good. Oh well, there's always next year.

Another vote for Darth Vader here. This is the first year my kids wanted to watch the superbowl, so we did (til halftime). I cringed just thinking about some of the tacky/inappropriate commercials that might come on. Thank god they did not see "Cram it in the Boot" because my 5 year old would be saying that for weeks, and my pre-teen daughter would wonder what the phrase referred to! Yikes!

I thought it was hilarious. It was poking at so many things! The British love crazy game shows and especially double entendre. Anyone who watches any British comedy knows this. Lighten up people.
That aside, I actually think it showed that this is the biggest Mini, and you can actually carry stuff in the boot. Cheeky, yes, but at least it got a ton of attention, which IS it's intended purpose. Job well done. But I do think the MINI Countryman commercial driving through Milan would have been a more WOW moment.

Here is the full version. But saying that is like saying, as you say "poof's", are the only people have "boot" sex. Which is just absurd. He didn't ask if he's ever had his boot crammed, he asked if he has ever crammed it in the boot. Watch the full version that was cut down.

Based on the buzz, or more appropriately - the lack thereof -, MINI failed pretty miserably. The commercial is not making the lists of best or worst ads during the Super Bowl. Haven't even seen it on a list of meh ads. Completely forgettable. The only folks discussing it are MINI owners and they are already familiar with the brand.

Ah, well now I'm clear. I guess each of us brings our own life experiences to the interpretation. Without the woman in the audience as a point of reference, I naturally assumed . . . .
This appears to be a recurring theme in MINI promotions. I had to wait to get home to find this pic. It's from the Philly auto show back when the Clubman was new.

I don't think it's a 3rd row, but a view of the recessed boot space cover (which is the handle), and maybe the flat load floor option. Wish we could get a for sure on what the flat load floor is supposed to look like!

I agree with every post here...especially the part about the Milan commercial being used in the superbowl...i think that would have stuck with intended crowd much better than a porno innuendo!!
I also agree that the Darth Vader/ VW thing was hilarious (especially if you have little kids [particularly boys!])....
