Hatchbox, you won't find a hater here! I think it's a great addition to the MINI line-up. I just hope there are plenty of Countryman owners like you that get the MINI brand. Can't take any more MINI owners that are non-wavers...

Haha! Thanks Albie! I'll definitely be waving!

In my life experiences, I've found hatred and discrimination is often due to ignorance...one should not feel mad, but instead feel sad for those who don't understand.

Agreed! As for the non-wavers... I feel more sad for their MINI. It must be awful to be unappreciated.

For the record, I love Mini/MINIs. Been a big fan for most of my life of the original Morris and have collected various things on them over the years. I even thought of buying a ~1967 Cooper which was at a car repair garage in my neighborhood about 15 years ago, but they were asking for more than I could afford. As I noted earlier, I've also been a fan of the new MINI since it came out and while shopping for the Countryman, I told the salesperson that there was as small chance I might get the MCS or Clubman.

So while I do envy all those smaller little MiNi buggers out there, I'll be most happy right now to be the big crazy uncle of the family.

Buy it if you like it

The hell with what other people say / think

People are people, so always remember that you can't please everyone all the time.

Period.

Keep calm and carry on.

Hatchbox: No big deal.. As other posters pointed out, the Gen 2 and Clubman got the same bashing that you think you're getting. Just ignore it and drive!

have fun!

I guess that's all part of the hazing ritual to join the family.

Thanks for the great attitude everyone - spread the love!

I will definitely wave at all Countrymans. Truth be told, I pretty much wave at everyone regardless of what they drive. I do make a special effort though to wave at my MINI brothers & sisters!
Motor on!

I personally showed up at a dealership that sold both MINI's & BMW's.

Their was a subconcious directional sign hanging on the entrance that said:

Introverted and Conservative Customers that Primarily Care about Image- Proceed to the BMW lot on your Right.

Extraverted and Free Thinking Customers Who Just Want to Have Fun- Proceed to the MINI lot on your Left.

P.S. MINI Customers: Please try not to run over BMW Customers on Test Drives.

P.S.S. Drug and Alcohol test are only Required for MINI Customers.

THAT IS FUNNY AS CRAP!!!!

Personally, I LOVE it!. I think they are cool as hell.

Second, I think that the countryman is a love it or hate it affair.. no middle ground.

Last but not least, I think it’s much like any other brand... when a new and improved or shall I say new model is introduced, the old school people don’t like it.

Much like the old Jeep people didn’t like the new style and so on and so on.

I’d gladly drive a countryman.

Mark

I have received nothing but positive comments and none have indicated it was substandard. It sure goes around corners as well as the R56 and in another 500 miles I'll know about the other fun part.

It is a MINI. There have been about a dozen delivered in our area and I have yet to notice one on the road, except when going past the dealership. My MA was taking a customer for a test drive, he claims he did not see me and is why he did not wave back.

Also, every CM they have brought into the showroom has sold in a few days.

I have a buddy who now owns a Mini, a MINI (R53 JCW) and now a maxi MINI (Countryman All4) and he likes all of them - yes the R53 is faster and better handling, but his wife won't go on a long trip in it with their dog, thats why they bought the Countryman...so they'd have a MINI for all seasons and all needs!

Personally I don't find the looks of the CM that attractive, although I can see the heritage and what they were going for, but I drove it and was completely happy with it's "MINI-ness". It's a great drive and fun to own.

I'm All4 it!

This is America, drive and enjoy as you wish.
We're about to order a 2011 Countryman to replace our '06 Cooper and loved the test drive. Just wondering why/how you've managed to drive 11 MINI's since '03. Trade-in value issue? Collector? Something I should be considering?
