Holy cow! 9500 miles already? Where the heck are you driving??

Just under 1900 miles for me so far and I'm averaging a little better than 28 MPG with mixed city and highway.

800 miles in on a CM-S All4 manual - 75% highway driving between 7500ft elevation and 5000ft elevation - overhead says 32.1 mpg. Have not revved it >4k rpm. Mostly 70-75 mph on the interstate.

My 2006 Cooper S (15% pulley,Dinan Airbox) gets 31.3 mpg on the same commute.

I've driven mine around 300 miles since Thursday, and I'm averaging 28.8 according to the heads up. Mostly highway, but a significant amount of backroads.

On a highway-heavy trip, it was more like 30, almost 31. After playing around with it a little bit, it seems like there's a pretty big dropoff in efficiency once you hit the low seventies in mph. Going over 75, it's hard to keep the mpg above 30. Closer to seventy, I was close to 32 mpg.

I still haven't driven enough to do a real calculation with actual gallons put in vs. miles driven, but I'm encouraged by what I've seen on the heads up display.

I went up to Dallas over the weekend. On the trip up with a head wind I got 27.8 mpg. On the trip back to Houston I got 30.5. Same 70-75 mph both ways. I did have a tire monitor go off and found a little less than 28 psi. Other three had about 30. For the trip back all 4 had 35 psi. The car rode rougher but not so much as my wife noticed. I have 4300 miles and need to pay more attention to tire pressure.

I have 6,700 miles on my ALL4 Manual

Averaging 26-low 27 mpg with my 18s,
with winter non RFT 17's I was over 27mpg. I have started playing with MINIMALISM so maybe that will help me with leaded right foot

Not totally relevant but i seem to have developed a pop/burp on over run, its actually quite a nice sound

I have just 780 miles on my ALL4 Auto and am driving 70/30 in favor of city driving.

The computer says 24.0 MPG against an average speed of just 27.1 MPH. I've also started tracking MPG on my own and so far it's pretty close to the computer, although as you'd expect it's a bit lower @ 23.64 MPG.

I'm hopeful that the MPG will increase as I run through the break-in period and beyond. Of course the fact that I'm mostly driving local streets isn't going to help boost the figure.

Mpg

I have the automatic All4 and am working on my fourth tank and my am getting 28 MPG. This is combined small town and highway driving.

The biggest problem is that the tank is tiny and you have to work to get 11 gallons in the tank, making the range about 300 miles.

This is my fourth MINI and my favorite by far.

Computer indicates range about 360 miles. I got closer to 330 when the computer indicated 9 miles to empty. I wonder if there is a reserve when the computer says it's bone dry, and how much that is.

I averaged 28 mpg on my trip from taking delivery of my Countryman S automatic yesterday. Was 130 miles highway. Better than I was expecting based on posts here for the first several tanks of gas.

Quick question, I'm looking into getting a Countryman but noticed that most peoples here are getting between 28-29 mpg. Has there been any news in regards to improving on that for next year's model?

There is no news other than a bench seat option. But probably not.

Not that I have heard, 2012 models are about into the order curve.

It would be nice if they put a 2.0 into the CM in 2013.

I have an S model with automatic and have 6700 miles on the odometer. My driving style is somewhere between stately to slightly aggressive, but in no way overly so on either end. I hardly have the need to floor it and keep the speeds less than 75 indicated (which includes the 2 to 3 mph error built in to Mini's speedometer reading). I drive without manual shifting since I found I get better mileage in the "D" position. I hardly ever use Sport mode. I try to use cruise control whenever possible. I always pump 91 octane from Chevron and in so doing find my exhause pipes to be surprising free of carbon. Having said this, I routinely clean the pipes since it just looks pristine. I am fastidious with my care of the car.

I have found the published mileage specs to closely match what I am getting. In town, I'm seeing 25-ish. Combined freeway is around 29 to 33, depending on the conditions. And, on trips I'm looking at mid-30's.

I've had my "justa" Countryman for 2 weeks now, and have driven ~ 1600 miles. Average by the computer is 29.9, and my calculations pretty much match that. Many of the 1600 miles included a 4- day trip over and around the WV mountains, so it may get a bit better with my "usual" daily drives to work on the highway. I think I just need to slow down a bit. I really hope I can maintain @ least 30 mpg on a regular basis. The gas tank is TINY!!

PS- I'm so happy to be a MINI owner again, I don't even care so much what the gas mileage is!!!

I am averaging 28 after four tanks with the automatic All4. I just went 330 miles on one tank - it took almost 12 gallons so she almost bone dry.

Very happy with the car - just have to live with the pint size gas tank.

I am getting 26-28 MPG, based on my first three tanks of gas. Calculated, and also the same as estimated by my MINI readout. I have an automatic CM, not all wheel drive, and only about 500 miles on so far..... I do mostly city driving with the occasional longer drive on the weekend. I think the time i spend in the Dunkin Donuts line and at the banking drive thru is what pulls my mileage down. (I have to go to bank every day for work, and usually use the drive thru to save time).

I'm at 26.4 MPG now with about 1700 miles on the car. The MPG was better, but now I've got the A/C on most of the time, occasionally use "sport" mode, drive spirited (LOL) and it's mostly town driving. It's still great, though!
