Fenton had a good time, confident with the skid plate in place, as we took to the air in the woods. More fun with protection in place

I might be a day late and a dollar short but I just found the PDF file (sorry I don't have time to read the entire thread). I hope it helps some one out:

What happened to the skid plate? I get on the Detroit Tuned site and when I click on the skid plate, it takes me back to the index. Same thing happens when I try to put one in the cart.

Just installed my skid plate yesterday. While it's hard to see normally I'm pretty happy with having it under there (and sneaking a peak under the car it looks pretty tough).

Quick blog write up is here.

Welcome to the fun-time-no-need-to-whine club. My local dealer told how another ALL4 motorist has been in twice to get repairs to the bottom of her MINI after unfortunate collisions between under-car parts and things sticking up from mountain roads. Her total so far is about $5K, if I recall correctly.

The only thing I've seen from MINI are little plastic cosmetic pieces - good if you (typically MINI) want to make a styling statement and don't mind reducing the ground clearance. If you want the real thing talk to Detroit Tuned...

Adding extra clearance with skidplate

I heard some "clunk" sounds when accelerating and decelerating this past weekend. The dealership took a look and found some wear on the exhaust flex pipe where it has been contacting the Detroit Tuned skidplate. We're adding some spacing to provide clearance where it wasn't previously needed.

We have found that every car is built a bit different and we have made the spacers bigger than the last batch to give more clearance. I also find that every tech that ever has to take it off throws them out and doesn't reinstall them....but due to so many different cars and how it is built, it is very important that the installer makes sure that there is enough room between the plate and any moving parts so that there is no rubbing like it says in the directions.

How's this plate compare with the similar Cooper-Crap skid plate? There's a substantial price difference.
