Another question... and I don't mean to be annoying!

Should I wait to register in the owners loungue until the production number matches my car? Right now when I plug it in to register, it says the production number belongs to a 2008 Chili Red Mini Cooper S....which mine is obviously not....should I hold off on registering or wait until it displays my car?

^^It just means your car took a previously scheduled cars spot. It's still "your car". It will change to your chosen color once it starts being made. You can still follow it though.

HELP

So my Mini is on the TOSCANA - it's due to arrive in the port of Baltimore in the next 24 hours - still not even available on satellite for tracking.....well...... I got on the WW site to check on it and now see that as of yesterday it says:

CUSTOMS RELEASE WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ 29-03-2012 00:00:00

So this happened yesterday before the boat even hits it's destination. I live close to the port of Baltimore - so my car isn't going to N.J.

WORRIED............ Does anyone know what this means.......

They do the customs release 1 to 2 days before it docks. What you want so see is released from carrier I believe, then it will be at the VDC. I think there is only 2 VDC's on the east coast and that is NJ and Charleston, SC. All MINI's go thru those facilities and then are trucked to the dealers. The ship may go to Baltimore and dock but it wont drop any MINI's off there. The ship that my wife's MINI was on continued on to Tacoma, Wa but we don't have a VDC here in WA. It was trucked up from California. Hope this info helps.

Oh no!!!! Seriously?!?!!? So it goes up to N.J. after it gets off in Baltimore? Then back down to Maryland. @#$^@#%&@ RATS!!!! That will take much longer....

Oh thank you! So I wonder why it says "customs released in NJ"? Instead of "Md"? I hope it doesn't have to take the extra trip or means my car was damaged or something. Paranoia setting in.....

There is also a VDC at Brunswick, Georgia. That is where mine came in.

They do the VDC check in NJ and then they dock in Baltimore where it is "officially" released from the carrier. Don't worry. They don't dock in Baltimore and then go to NJ and then back. They stop at NJ, then Bmore, then SC, then GA. I specifically asked my MA when my car came because no one was talking about Baltimore and I picked my Mini up in DC. They are trucked from Bmore and it was literally only 1.5 days from Baltimore to Passport Mini Alexandria! Beaux- you are so close!

Thank you so much jenben!! I feel muuuuuuuch better. I have my fingers crossed for wednesday or thursday of this coming week. My only worry are my fog lights. I don't know how much "extra" time it will take at the VDC to install them, but I guess after that I'll be golden. I'll keep everyone posted with pics to come once mini is home!

No worries - it takes little to freak me out about this car now! LOL Just getting antsy after waiting almost 9 weeks. The first 4 - 6 weeks weren't so bad.... now that I'm at the end the waiting seems more difficult!

Tell me about it! Tracking my wife's car from the time we ordered it on 12/30/11 to when it arrived on 02/28/12 was torture and it wasn't even my car. I have ordered mine and so far it is moving along rather nicely. It is really hard once your loaded on a ship!

Okay, I just have to vent (as I'm sure most of you will understand)

[Vent]
my car was finished on 3/17 and is still sitting at the dock "awaiting transport" for almost 2 weeks now! Really?! Could it just get a slot on a boat already? And, no matter how many times a day I check the VIN number on the shippers tracking site, nothing is found. Grrr...you would think someone would take mercy on my OCD personality and put the poor thing on a boat already!
[/Vent]

Thanks for listening, I feel better. Fingers crossed tomorrow is the day he starts his journey to the US.

No I've been using

www.marinetraffic.com

It shows up now (there was nothing for 8 days as it crossed the Atlantic). Seems super slow now. Just get to Baltimore already!!!

The last ship (Talisman) was on time - maybe even a day or so early. The TOSCANA is late. My SA originally said the 29th - and now it's been moved to the 1st. Sigh.

I was in the same boat (pun intended ). Mine was finished on 11/11 and sailed on 11/25. Absolute torture, but it should be over soon, and it's worth it.

I'm sharing that same experience. Ordered 2/25, completed 3/15, still waiting for a boat headed to the west coast...

Looks like the vent worked!! I called my MA today and found out that Ox was loaded onto Grand Venus on 3/29 and is currently at port in South Hampton. ETA 4/24. Yay!!! Progress!!

Just have to wait a little longer...

Well, after breaking down in Indy & again in KC, the truck delivering my MINI wasn't able to make my appointment. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday (Friday), but it didn't arrive at the dealership until today (Saturday). My MA was kind enough to send me a couple teaser shots...

Unfortunately I'll be out of town until Wednesday so I'll have to wait a few more days. The last few days will be killer!
