High-pitched sound?

Anybody getting a high-pitched sound after a cold start? It sounds like it's coming from the rear, but goes away after the car warms up.

How come people post questions with no info?

Bitter cold in the Rockies or kinda cold in DC? All 4 or front 2? Turbo, non-Turbo? Brand new, or several months/mile later? What color (colour)? Mine has been quiet for most of 6 months. No complaints.

Sealy - Who only has one high-pitched car squeal and it's been in the passenger seat for 30+ years.

Well, it wasn't explicitly a solicitation for advice - I'm asking if anyone else is experiencing the issue. I do appreciate your willingness to participate in the conversation, though, despite the fact that you're apparently not having this problem.

I am definitely getting this. I had noticed it around -3c. Tonight when I ventured out at -11.5c it was definitely more obvious and the car felt like treacle.

I get that the Mini doesn't like the cold. The manual says not to let it warm up, but I think I shall ignore that, pulling out onto a road where folk are doing 90km/h is not good when it feels like I am driving a golf cart!

The combination of the tall first gear and sluggish cold acceleration can make for really bad results when pulling out onto a road where the traffic is zipping by (from personal experience). Warming up, sport mode, and reading the post about getting off the line quickly may be mandatory.

by the way ghamma, i love the photo of your CM in your signature area. everytime i see it...i think how cool that would have been to be a passenger during that photo. looks like your CM is slightly airborne.

Yeah, in the photo it's on the way to getting all four of the ALL4 off the ground. It was fun to find a little path through the trees that led to a hill crest, and then get the speed up enough to get some air. The ALL4 does a great job of getting down a dirt road. Right after this my son (the photographer) and I went out into a big grassy field and played with turning off the DSC and DTC until we could do handbrake turns (hate the handbrake) and drifting around trees. The ALL4 is definitely a great MINI for fun!
