Use a hard plastic device.... I think your wife or mom, has something in the kitchen!! Some have used a Credit Card. Then place in-between the cover and mirror - slowly working in and around. They will POP off and clips will be intact....
The first POP will scare you- no worries... All will be good.

Do you happen to have a Pampered Chef's little scrapper. It's hard plastic about 2.5 inches square.
If you do, pry it under the top (between the black plastic and the oem cover) toward the outer edge working from toward back of car to front.
Once you get a little clearance, slide it toward the car (inward).
Once the top is cleared grasp it and pull forward (toward front of car).
It'll come lose.
It feels fragile but it's pretty tuff.
If you don't have the pampered chef thing, a couple of 2' stiff plastic putty knives work.
