Today is the day - last minute decisions, e.g. warranty?

Today I pick up "El Gigante", my "orange and black" MCS.

Just got my insurance quote from Geico, and they mentioned the extended Mechanical Breakdown Coverage for $35/month:

http://www.geico.com/getaquote/auto/...own-insurance/

It seems like a good deal, but are there any catches?

I would only take Mini's extended warranty/service if I could get a massive discount and finance it.

Anyone have thoughts on this and comparisions?
I'm not totally sure if the extended warranty from Mini includes just maintenance or bumper to bumper.

I've heard also about wheel insurance, but I got stock 17" wheels...

Not sure about any of the others - I'm a die-hard believer that while the car is new, warranty should cover just about anything that's going to come up. I would check into tire insurance - replacing run flats can get expensive. Our dealer offered "generic" insurance that was a little more limited than MINI's, but a heck of a lot cheaper and still provides for several replacements.

Good luck & congrats!

You do not need to make these decisions right away. Take your time. Mini covers towing the first 4 years for breakdown.

Your mixing up a few different things that are distinct items:
1- Mini's Extended maintenance package ($1895)
2- Mini's Extended Motorer Protection (XL or XXL)
3- Tire & Wheel insurance.

Just wanted to post that I picked up my 2012 CMS4 Saturday.
It actually arrived Jan 2nd, but I was out of town, and missed the $750 Motortober.
My MA tried to resubmit it to Mini but they wouldn't give in.

I also tried to argue to the $250 FLF option, as I found out they didn't make everyone pay for it, unless they specifically ordered it. I was a bit pissed off about that fact, but
they wouldn't budge since I had asked for it.

The only additional coverage I took was tire/wheels, as I was told (and it is indeed written on the contract), you can only take this option on delivery day. However, it's
fully cancellable in California for 60 days, and prorated after if you cancel.

Thoughts on this coverage?

btw Extended maintenance was a ridiculous $2395 or so. I got a "discount" on
the tires and wheel insurance for $1149. The extended warranty 7/100 was almost 4k.
I'm betting the prices are higher here because it's SF.

also, I'll post pics soon.

edit: I meant CMS4

I went for the mechanical coverage from GEICO on my MINI and new Land Rover as the dealership warratnies are insanely expensive for the same coverage I can get from GEICO for a few bucks a month.....
