Added a spare tire!

With a change from runflats to non-runflats in my short term future I decided to setup a spare tire!

Yesterday, actually. Took Zaftig in for warrenty work- engine light, excessive cooling fan run on, broken tether on the gas cap, chrome strip on the boot fell off again somemore. Got a replacement engine coolant temp sensor, a new cap, and a new chrome strip. They also changed the oil, seviced the brakes (new fluid), topped off the fluids, washed and vacuumed, and new wipers all around. Also reset the reminders. All for no charge. While I certainly appreciate all the routine maintenance at no cost (except the $38K I spent on him), I really, really would like at least once to take it in just for routine maintenance. Two-point-five years, 10K miles, and things just keep happening.

Details on the spare? Where'd you buy? What size rim and tire? Is it inflated under the floor there?

Sorry for the questions.

Here's the thread on the spare. Requires an adapter to work.

The thread that chrunck posted is where I got my info. to shoof one of the moderators here I believe he found the solution.

Here's what I found and where:

1.Mercedes (SLK) OEM (compact folding) Spare tire 165-15-89P off ebay paid around $150 delivered.

2.Spare Tire Adapter Kit ( http://www.tdnparts.com/spare-tire-adapter-kit/ ) This is the latest model works on both front and back paid $160 delivered. (Came with a t-handle lug wrench with both lug sizes needed)

3.Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator paid $30

Total cost was $340 PEACE OF MIND PRICELESS

In my boot the other items you see are 2 cans of slime, an REI first aid kit and under that is a small jump box.

So yeah, I'm new here and I was looking into getting the VIP Combo kit on their website that includes the intake, heat shield for the turbo, and the strut bar. Any opinions on aftermarket parts? I'm just looking to make my mini durable and efficient. I started browsing all the things that I could get for it and I kinda got overloading with too many things to get for it... (ex. Torque arm, inter-cooler, etc.) So basically, what my question is, what parts should I get that are going to make my mini run the best for the value? I mean, I could get every little thing and replace everything on it, but what are the most important things first?

I'd recommend the torque arm insert first and then the Defenders of Speed cold air intake. I really like my VIP strut brace but people say the rear sway bar is the better mod. I've yet to do a RSB, but it's probably next on my list.

Can I ask why the Defenders of Speed CAI over others?

It's the only true CAI on the market for the CM. All others are sucking hot engine air.

Did he ever finally post a dyno on measurable gains? I got tired of asking.

Just got my Paceman a month ago... After going with my "old" Clubman S "mod crazy", I decided that this one will be only stuff that was really worthed to ME. Since, our cars are performance similar, take a look at my list of "to do" items in no particular order:

1) summer tires with rims ( coming spring I will be getting 18" or 19" rims with summer performance tires)

2) short shifter by NM Eng (I miss this mod a lot!)

3) rear sway bar by NM Eng (for all those "off and on ramps" on highway...)

4) CAI (probably NM Eng again), just for SOUND factor, cause it's damn better with it...

5) ehxaust (what ever is the best deal next summer ), for that little extra power and A LOT OF change in sound and appearance...

That would be it, performance wise. All other stuff I did to my Clubman (lowering, INTERCOOLER, control arms, heat shield, and many more...) are out for warriors reasons. Again, this is my personal view of what "worked" for me and what not. This might not work for you, but just a suggestion...

Might be cheating since it was yesterday , but I finally got around to using the PC for a little polish and wax. I was trying to take a picture of the finished product, but I only managed to get my reflection in the Absolute Black paint.

put something on the surface and focus on that instead of the reflection.

20" Rigid lightbar - AMAZING!

Alaska winters get REAL dark. Momma wanted light and now she has a 20" single-row Rigid E-series wedged in that little slot. Works wonders for lighting up those pesky moose hiding in the weeds. Pure daylight! The 4 outside LED's on each side are "flood" and the rest are spot. Worth every penny. If you don't want a Rigid, buy Totron on eBay for 1/2 the price. They are about 90% as effective with only a few drawbacks. The install was difficult, but worth it.

Enjoy!

Installed VIP brackets and Hella Black Magic 500 driving lights; waxed and detailed the interior and exterior this weekend.

Getting through the firewall to install the interior switch was quite the chore!

Baby picture

Took the initial baby photo of BigMINI. Like all babies, he's beautiful. Wonder what he'll grow up to be. . .
