Negotiating Price
Is it true that I won't be able to negotiate the price of my CM as I live in Hawaii and I only have one mini dealer to go to?
I went to MINI inquiring about their costco discount, but the dealer says it doesn't apply to the countryman! They're offering no other discounts on the MINI countryman!
Will I be able to get anything off MSRP!?
Thank You!

Here in NY I'm in the process of closing a deal on an ordered Countryman S (Not All4 so Only2, I guess...) and pitting two dealers (one in Manhattan and one in Northern NJ) we were able to eventually get to $1700 off MSP. It took a few rounds. The dealer in NJ was always the one that lowered the price, but Manhattan kept matching. Even got one final price match after they said they wouldn't anymore.
It's tough if there's only one dealer in town. It certainly wouldn't hurt to look at other options (shipping from San Diego?) because - well, it IS an option and anything you can do to help your cause will help. Even if they just match the price including shipping it could still bring them down. Maybe you wouldn't get $1700 off, but $700 off is better than nothing.

not to hijack the thread, but I am curious about this too. I live in the SF Bay Area. Some dealers have markups and some are asking MSRP. I was told I might be able to get 500-1000 (maybe) off of MSRP, but not to even think of invoice as there are no holdbacks on the Countrymans.
Have most of you paid right around MSRP?

Just negotiated 5% off a 2013 model (I know I have to wait almost 6 months for it). so I guess I should feel good about that deal, but my family has bought several BMWs and a couple Mini's from the dealership, so I think they are doing it as a favor.
If you look it up online the Countryman has 9-10% in it over invoice, that is pretty insane for cars, normally its only 6-7%. So at a 5% discount the dealer is still making some nice cash.

If he was referring to SF Mini, then yeah. No surprise because the dealer sucks.

In San Diego Costco discount was $1800 over invoice in March and with a little pressure I saved even more. With the Test Drive Take Down discount and the additional discount for being a 4 time buyer from the same auto group, I ended paying less than $500 over invoice. If you are a USAA member they too offer a discount from MINI... If you can work out a good deal it may make sense to buy in San Diego and ship to Hawaii.

I had heard that 2013 Countrymans weren't going into production until after the 2013 Pacemans. Estimate I heard was Nov/Dec so they may not hit the streets until the actual 2013. Differences are minimal from what I've heard. Biggest diffence is Bluetooth is standard and satellite is an option, with a general price increase to make up for that.

Several people have received 2013 non-Countryman Minis already and no one mentioned anything about notable interior changes. If there were changes on the scale of what the spy shots showed I'd imagine someone would have posted 1000 pictures by now.

I didn't pay MSRP on my JCW, which had to be special ordered. So placing a markup on a car that's less rare doesn't make sense. If you're looking for a MINI in the Bay Area, let me know. I'll hook you up with my salesman.
Don't think so.

It all depends on how hungry the dealer is. look, I would make them an offer. If they refuse your offer and it's reasonable, leave them your contact info and tell them to call you back within 48 hours if they should reconsider or you'll take your business to another brand. If they really want to make the sale, they'll call you back....
no need to elaborate.
