R60 Satellite Radio?

Satellite Radio?
Hi, First post. First time Mini Owner. Just got a 2013 CM. I skipped on the Satellite Radio upgrade. However, my MA said the radio is actually installed in the car, just not active. Can this be confirmed?
I'd like to call XM/Sirius and get at least 3 free months of service. Thoughts?
Thanks!

I did not pay the $250 add on for Satellite Radio when I ordered my car. The car comes installed with sat radio hardware directly from the factory.
I guess the $250 fee is free money to the dealer so they can simply "unlock" the sat radio. After this "unlock" step, you can provide your ID# to Sirius for activation.
Just wondering if this is true.

Let me rephrase my question...
Pre-2013 models came stock with sat radio and Bluetooth optional. 2013 CMs have std bluetooth and optional sat radio.
MA says 2013 CMs have satellite radio from factory installed regardless if you ordered sat radio.
If this is true, then $250 sat radio option is only to "enable" the sat radio in the car so you can Sirius and activate your service.
I want to bypass this $250 and enable the sat radio by myself. Is this possible?

FYI - got an email to spread the word about a free preview starting on 30 Jan 13:
Starting January 30th, SiriusXM is giving inactive radios FREE access to 60 channels of commercial-free music, plus sports, news, talk and entertainment.
Go to siriusxm.com/freelistening for the channel guide with the list of 60 selected channels.

I don't see the sat radio option through my menu on the display. Seems like you're half way there.

i believe if you did not order the $250 option your audio system simply does not have the capability to receive Sirius, subscription or not.

Even if it does - if you can't get the ESN then you can't activate the radio with Sirius. The ESN is the unique identifier that Sirius needs to tie the subscription to. Once you get the ESN you can activate the radio with Sirius and get the free 1 year subscription - you don't need to go through the dealer to take advantage of the 1 year subscription.

We can confirm this for you. When you have a moment send us an email with your contact info to sxm_help@siriusxm.com and we'll be happy to review how we can set up a trial subscription.

I too was told Sirius was already built in to my '13 Justa. Sales guy says the parts dept has to order a code from Mini that will turn on the inactive part of the radio. (This has nothing to do with a Sirius account) once they get code from Mini, the service dept has to enter the code which will activate the built in Sirius receiver and allow it to show on radio display.
Then the radio ID will show up and you can then activate a Sirius account.
I want to do this, but the dealer wants too much to get the code from Mini. Anyone know of a dealer that will activate my built in receiver for less?

Very interesting discussion...I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome as I, too, have a '13 "without" Sat radio--wasn't ordered with the car.
