Transfer Case Binding?

We have noticed that when we are backing up and turning sharply in our 2013 CMSA4 it feels like there is some binding somewhere in the drivetrain. Anyone else notice that? Hopefully it's not in early sign of a problem with the transfer case.

I never noticed that in our 2012. The new car is an automatic and the old car was a manual, but I would assume the transfer case is identical.

I owned a couple of Jeep Grand Cherokees about 15 years ago that had full-time four-wheel-drive, and there was a similar feeling when turning sharply at parking lot speeds, although If I recall correctly that was when going forward but not in reverse.

My manual '12 used to do it a lot. It seems to have just stopped at some point.

Love how your signature includes all the options… Including the POS clutch

I get this sometimes too, but not always. It's usually in reverse at full steering lock.

Many thanks for the responses. Sounds like it may be normal.

I think it's normal. I get it from time to time with low speeds in parking garages. A friend had a Audi back in the day and it did it much more. My old jeep would almost push at full steering lock.
