Good deal on a brand new 2013 Countryman S...

Hey! What's up guys. I am from the Bay Area, CA and I wanted to ask where can I get a good deal on a '13 Countryman S here in the Bay Area?

My fiance and I agreed on the following:
-->Base Countryman S
-->White
-->FWD (Don't need All4 since this will be only driven in the Bay area)
-->Automatic
-->Blue tooth, no NAV
How much is the ideal price for a 2013 Countryman S with the above options?

Let me know and thanks for looking!

Is that $28k out the door (Including taxes, licensing, paperwork)?

Mini of SF has a used Red CMS FWD looks like everything you want for 23k asking, that should give you a good price to shoot for

I decided that it does not matter now, new or used as long as it's a good running CM. Btw, I also asked Mini of Concord for a CPO CM S FWD. They'll let me know if they ever get one to my specs.

That's a good price, but I really want a white one.

Thanks for the input man!

2013 cm

I got pretty much the same model (manual)for $25,650 in the Dallas Area. I think adding the Auto tranny will take it up that much. Price doesn't fluctuate much due to BMW/MINI 7% mark up.

Yeah, the auto tranny adds another $1250 to the total price.

If I will get a VERY good deal on a used Countryman S with 20K miles with a well maintained exterior, excellent carfax report, and guarantees me to save more than $5K after taxes, licensing, and paperwork, i'll definitely jump on it.

Post pics of your CW paceman/countryman when you get it.

Just for giggles, try going to the MINIUSA.com web site, pull up your local dealers, and search inventory. Once you find what you want, you can go from there.

Mini of Concord

kohrolah,

Give Jason Krupa (925) 685-6464 @ Mini of Concord a call. I just purchased a 2013 CM S FWD fully loaded for a great price. This is now the third Mini vehicle we have leased/purchased. Also, there's .9% financing available. *Not affiliated with the dealer*

I got my 2012 Mini CM S All4 for 27,400. It was a steal. It only had 7k miles and had most of the packages except for the MINI-connect. I think that's the only thing it didn't have. :D

The only problem I've had with it is that the dealers that sold it to me put in the wrong oil for an oil change and I was getting only 22 mpg combined..... I took it to the dealer just this week (3 weeks after buying it) and they did a full check up and replaced the oil and did a full change. Now I'm getting 30 mpg . I didn't know how much a difference it would be!

I am looking for a similar car with a 25k + ttl budget. Based on the search so far looks like that will be unattainable due to all the add-ons most of the cars have that raise their price quite quick..

Looking for a used 2013/2012 with 3 rear seats now..

With the crazy used car prices and limited colors on offer for the remaining 2013's, we went ahead and bought a 2014 CMS in blazing red. Wonderful car having fun so far, should have gotten the Xenon's though as the stock halogens are pretty terrible!!

To the OP, if you are going to drive your CM like a Mini should be driven, I wouldn't rule out All4 just because you don't see snow.

AWD does amazing things on perfectly dry pavement. i can slam into corners with total confidence that the rear end will not step out on me.

Plus the rear end rotates so nicely through turns with AWD.

For a cross-over that sits relatively high, the car handles really well with the All4 system.

Interesting. Last I heard, AWD on the CM only kicks in when the system senses front wheel spin. On dry pavement it's FWD. Did they change something?

From Motoringfile :

While in Austria during the JCW Countryman preview, I had a chance to spend some time with Heinz Krusche, the head engineer for BMW’s Driving Dynamics devision. Driving Dynamics is the group responsible for the DSC, DTC, xDrive and All4 systems for both BMW and MINI. Much of the press event was about experiencing MINI’s All4 system on the snowy mountain roads of Austria. While previewing the JCW Countryman prototype, Herr Krusche gave me a full run-down on how the system works and just when the rear wheels are pitching in to do their part. Turns out, the system works a little bit differently than we’d previously been told.
Originally, MINI’s All4 system was explained to us as being FWD first, then AWD on-demand as a traction control aid. Apparently, this was not entirely accurate. While yes, up to 50% of the engine’s power can be diverted to the rear wheels, the system actually defaults to AWD from the get go, not FWD. Similar to BMW’s Xdrive system, which defaults to a 70/30 split rear to front and is able to divert 100% of power to the rear wheels, All4 starts at 50/50 and is able to re-allocate up to 100% of power back to the front wheels. It’s a subtle difference, but has pretty profound ramifications on our understanding of the system. I clarified this with Heinz two separate times just to make sure we weren’t getting stuck in a language barrier. Each time he was insistent. The system defaults to AWD.

Another interesting clarification about All4 has to do with speed. As an All4 equipped MINI reaches highway speeds, the multi-plate wet clutch that sends power to the rear wheels starts to disengage progressively, sending less and less power to the rear wheels as you go faster. At approximately 80 mph, the rear wheels are disengaged entirely for the sake of efficiency. We knew that there was a point at which the system reverted to FWD, but it’s new and interesting to find that it’s a progressive process. So at say 60 mph, the power split might be 60/40 front to rear. Then at 70 mph, it could be more like 80/20.
Another interesting figure Herr Krusche gave us was just how robust the power transfer system is. The rear drive mechanisms are engineered to be able to send nearly 300 foot pounds of torque to the rear wheels. Put another way, the clutch mechanism, sending unit, rear differential and axles are engineered strong enough to work with an engine output of up to 600 foot pounds! While I doubt any factory MINI engine will ever see that kind of output, knowing that the system is that strong and that over-engineered speaks well to what we might be able to expect from the system’s longevity.
Aside from the JCW Countryman prototype, much of this event was centered around MINI demonstrating the capabilities of All4 on a variety of compromised surfaces, including a fully off-road ice road course up the side of a mountain. With full 50/50 power distribution from start, the All4 system proved itself not only capable of adding grip to on-road driving but genuine, if low-level, off-road capability. It doesn’t turn the Countryman into a fully trail rated off-roader, but I can say confidently that MINI’s All4 system is much more than just an assistant to DSC. And while it’s still not a dry-surface performance system, the system does allow you to bring a large portion of spirited driving back to road surfaces compromised by snow, grit or wet. In that respect, it’s a safety system as much as it’s a fun system.

Thanks for posting that. I had seen the original on motoringfile but was looking for it the other day and couldn't locate it.. That's one reason I was so glad the CMJCW came with All4. it's not some "me too" system that 99% of the small SUV's have where the rear drive kicks in only when slip is detected....this is the real deal.

Our first AWD vehicle and it works so darn well in the corners. With the CMS that we test drove before ordering the JCW, I had the rear end stepping out a couple of times....there was no drama, I assume due to the weight of the rear end, but it was easy find the handling limits of the S. The difference between All4 and non-All4 during "spirited" driving on dry payment is night and day.

good stuff from the BMW/Mini engineers..

Your welcome, and I completely agree , I got my All4S used and it took a while to find a manual which combined with the ALL 4 system makes all the fun happen. An you're right contrary to previous thinking this is not some 4 wheel system in name only
Cheers

I can agree with this statement 100%. The girlfriend has a 2013 S and I have an All4. It is a totally different feel, something to look at try driving both as you may find that you like the feel of the All4 a bit more.
