I love the flat black paint on my Harley but I would never put it on a Mini, especially if you are OCD about how your vehicle looks. Flat paint is not easy to keep looking nice and has a worn burnished look over time. Also flat paint is harder to repair and it is usually very noticeable.

Hopefully those that order can get that crap C O U N T R Y M A N off with the stealth order part. Getting that off matte paint isn't as easy as off of regular paint once applied. (Again, experience with our matte motorcycle)

It does look like matte chrome (or silver) rings around the headlights and taillights. The grille still has a touch of chrome, which shows that it is probably the same grille as on the other cars. As far as the "crap COUNTRYMAN" is concerned, some of us actually like it (I added it to my 2012). Hopefully, it will be done in a stainless steel (matte) finish. If it's not wanted, the "Stealth" package can be specified to remove all badging except the MINI wings. It's a no-cost option.

I think it is a nice looking car. I love the matte look, but it just isn't the easiest thing to maintain, and not sure it will be worth the $35K-$40K for a non-JCW when fully optioned out.

Awful, just awful. Harley does the same thing with bikes. Denim they call it....no color or polish is what I call it.....a Harley Davidson that does not shine in the sun....does not make sense to me. I am completely the other way with a Softail CVO that has a 120R motor and other go-fast parts, and lots of chrome with highly polished paint...fast and shiny-the way all motorized transport should be ![LOL](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif)
I never have gotten this fascination with all black everything(especially wheels), but at least the black (thinking of Mini absolute black here) is highly polished and shows off the lines of the car.
Now they will do a paint that is always dull, and looks like it was primed and they forgot about the next step.
I fully get that this is all in the eye of the beholder, but it just looks horrible, IMO

The Stealth Package is an emblem delete option, and I have to figure it would be available even on a car with relatively few options. In Europe, it's been available as "Model Designation Delete" for a while. I do like the look of black wheels (shiny ones). I had them on my 2010 Dark Silver R56. With certain colors (and certain types of wheels), they look good, but they are definitely not for everyone. The ALL black look is often called "murdered out". I'm not sure of the point of it. I tend to like a little splash of chrome on a dark colored car. Likewise with the paint. To me, matte paint looks like primer.
