Just so you know.., this was not Mini calling you. I can assure you of this. Aftermarket warranty scams are common.

I've gotten them for every new car in the past 10 years or so. (VW, Audi, etc..) They skim the public DMV records. I have about 10 numbers blocked on my phone. The do not call list does nothing to deter them.

I still get calls and letters sent to the house about vehicles I don't own anymore.

In most cases thank your DMV for in most cases indirectly putting your data out there.

Vehicle registrations records are available to the public. Any one can find out when you or any one else bought a car, what kind it is, etc. Scams are everywhere.

I can't believe that you thought this was legit.

Next time, before getting all worked up about it, a simple google search would show that it is a scam.

This will be my last Mini...
When a business practice acts like a scam, and I'm still not sure that it wasn't (ok yes I am).... Its time to move on and not look back...

Beware people.... If they are cutting corners with offshoring to this degree, what are they doing to our new cars?
Cutting corners doesn't stop here... Does it?
Hang on, back up a little. You're really getting ahead of yourself. I can guarantee that was not MINI. Next time do a little research before you start tearing a brand up...

Con is a synonym for scam. It is also a prefix.

Like banks never change their policies. And did he get it in writing? Lol.

A very common scam, no matter what kind of car you drive, and yes - their information either came from your auto registration or your insurance company or even possibly the bank that your loan came from. All of these "sell" basic information and the warranty scam starts, they are not worth the paper they eventually send you. If the worst they do is steal one payment from you, they could clean out your bank account once they set up an autopay arrangement.

And as OP knows, the bank won't often be very helpful in putting a stop to those unwanted autopays other than charge you fees to cancel your account.

Jeez.
I work with a lot of folks from India and so does my wife.
We live in Silicon Valley.

The fact that he gave an ultimatum leads me to think it was a scam.

The age old scam alarm, tried and true: "If it sounds too good to be true, it is." "If it has to be done right now or lose the opportunity, it is." "If you called my number and don't know my name, it is."
Skepticism and a fine tuned BS detector are handy tools to have at hand when you don't recognize the phone number. Better yet, don't answer it, it just encourages them to keep trying.

Ouch....but true.
If you are countiously not happy...posting you are done....might be time...you are looking for a reason to be mad, you were never happy...time to move on... Be happy....or have a stiff drink at the very least and chill!! Lol.
Times like this are good for reflection.... Is it the car you dislike or something else? Deep inside you seem determined NOT to like your car....

One tip to the op....
Those calls from "Windows" that come from India...that's a scam too!!
If you can't smell a scam a mile away...might be time to get yourself tuned up!!
