We always recommend the first oil change at 1200 miles then every 5k after that.

I was sceptical of the 10000 mile recommendation but did it. I think im going back to every 5000 from now on

I paid to have changed at 4,000
Maintenance plan change at 8,000
I paid again at 12,000.

Now I will just do 8,000's as recommended by the car.
I have a good drive to work each day 15 miles with 3 lights. I have a stretch I will run her up to 100+ on about monthly on the way in the rest of he time it is 65MPH. I do let her ldle for 5 mins when I do 100+ since it is hit that speed and then parked 2 min latter.

I changed my oil on my 2014 JCW Countryman at 2500 miles. The oil surprisingly was very black and seemed diluted. I used Castrol Edge 5w30 full synthetic. I will change it again when the odometer reads 6000 miles. Direct fuel injection does make oil turn darker but 2500 miles? Anyways I will keep a close eye on the oil condition. I only use premium fuel. Most of my driving is short distance less than 10 miles one way.
