Preparation BMW Satellite Radio

The VIN decoder says my CM has:

"S693A Vorbereitung BMW Satellitenradio Preparation BMW satellite radio"

Does that mean that I can enable Satellite Radio with just a program change?

yes, I had the same thing. did not need to buy any hardware, but still had to take it into the dealership for them to activate the license.

be prepared, it's not the cheapest thing out there, and the price includes 1 year of service, so that helps. I had an account with my old car, so XM is holding my balance from my old car and applying it to my new car and will activate once my 1 year is used up.

Thanks.

I found the info on another thread (I know I should have searched before asking).

I wish the previous owner had done a little research. They installed an aftermarket XM receiver and used the stick on antenna when they could have just tapped into the OEM one. Now I have to figure out how they routed the antenna wire take the stupid thing off.

Well there's a good case for the aftermarket receiver. If they have the Onyx player, they most likely got that from XM for free, and avoided paying Mini for the several hundred dollar XM installation fee.

The antenna thing? well, blame laziness for that one!
