R60/Countryman S Headlight Replacement Question

Hey all!

I'm on the verge of purchasing the Countryman projector head lights (OEM, black housing), however I'm on the verge because I do not want to pay the fee for programming (this is stupid...I blame BMW) and I want to buy the headlights from 3rd party (ebay, here, etc.) because I don't want to use the factory HID or buy the expensive headlights from Mini. Is it possible to use an aftermarket H4 HID kit with the OEM projector bulbs?! I hate these halogen headlamps...They aren't the most attractive headlights...

Or would you replace it with an aftermarket H13 HID kit? I just read that they are H13 bulbs on the project model...

Hello, are you trying to put an HID kit in OEM Xenon housing ? The service should be 1 hr to flash them, call around.

Does anyone know which is the positive in the headlight plug? I know the brown wire is the negative

Should be the yellow. Yellow, black, and red are typically postive.

Blame the company all you want, but all modern cars require coding of some sort to enable options that a car didn't originally come with.

True...

I went ahead and started purchasing the OEM (black housing) projector headlights; paid $225 for the right one (complete with bulbs and ballast)...Now I just need to find the left one...

Will do! I'm pretty psyched to get this "mod" completed. I haven't seen a lot of modded MCS light coffee colored ones out there. :D

Thanks! Me too. When the CMS first came out, I built one exactly (less the headlights) to spec as the one I bought last year; it was a light coffee colored. :D
