Will there be a 2017 Countryman
Hi folks,
We absolutely love our 2013 Countryman S All4, our lease is up in September and while we are highly considering buying it out, the only thing that may sway us to a new model is if there is a redesign coming for 2017.
Guy at dealership wasn't really sure, but, mentioned he thought it might be done with in 2016 and disappear for a year or two while a new gen comes out. We may also consider the 2016 simply to have a fresh odometer and warranty, but, we'd order the exact same version.
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the near future of the Countryman?
Thanks, Jeff

It's coming as a 2017 model late this year/early next year.
We know it will share a platform with the new Clubman and the BMW X1 and have all that 3rd gen goodness, it will be a little bigger, and have a new ALL4 system, but not much else beyond that. If your lease is up in September I don't think it would be out by then so not sure what your options would be.
Lots of good info here:

Keep in mind MINI hasn't officially announced anything yet, so dealers may be a bit tight lipped.

My dealership suggested I drive the new Clubman to feel the difference of the new BMW engine four cylinder 2.0 engine (also used in i8). Which I did. They informed me that a BMW engine will be new to the 2017 CM as they will switch to that i8 engine. The non-S will have the 3 cylinder and the S will have the 4 cylinder, so test drive the Clubman S. The existing N18 engine in the CM is a Peugeot engine (not a BMW!). I like the idea of getting a BMW for the price of a MINI. I also drove a 4 dr Cooper as a loaner with the new 3 cylinder and it was peppy although it still had the 6 speed auto tranny in it. The dealership manager says they expect the new CM in first quarter of 2017 (after car shows releases). I will definitely trade up for the 4 cylinder with the new 8 speed tranny.

Personally I am waiting for the plug-in hybrid version of the new CM.

Newest Countryman ( Gen 3 version ) should have a BMW engine like the F56+
Waiting to see what they do.

I'm really excited for the plug-in hybrid option but that likely won't arrive until as long as a year after the next-gen Countryman is on sale. May have to settle on a diesel if that powertrain ever makes it to the states.

You're being given a lot of misinformation by your dealer.
i8 uses 3-Cylinder engine, as with base F56/F55/F54 MINIs, and all F-series MINIs use BMW B38/B48 3- and 4-cylinder engines. The use of Peugeot engines ended with 2nd Gen MINIs.
Are Countryman owners that out-of-the-loop? I've had my F56 MINI Cooper for two years already, and if you want to learn how the F60 Countryman will feel/drive, go drive a BMW X1. It's nearly the same car, and mostly the mechanical twin to the F60 Countryman. If you want to see what new tech and features will be available on the F60, go configure an F56/F55/F54. They already have it all.

I'm pretty disappointed in the looks of the new model. Sure, it's yet to be officially revealed, but it looks far too wagony and low to the road vs the R60. Doesn't even look that MINI to me. I've been following its development for well over the past year, ready to trade in my 2013 CMS with 72k miles on it (love it). But this won't be the direction I go, especially with concerns over it being a 1st gen new design. In fact, without an attractive CM, it looks like MINI won't have a model at all that will work for me. :(
