Just wanted to share with the community that I got my CarPlay working today in my 2021 Countryman Oxford (F60). Even though I liked the car already a lot, this made it way better and more enjoyable. Thanks a million to Steve, who advised and educated me on the hardware purchase, the disassembly/assembly steps, and the update process, and finally connected me with the proper individual to help me with the software update. Everything works like a Charm, and I'm immensely happy with the results. The process to get here was a lot of fun, too.
After this experience, I'll definitely will continue tinkering my Mini.
Forgot to mention that the only glitches so far are:
1. The Spotify screen is overlapping the text lines. Note the third picture where the top and bottom lines overlap with the middle line, and hence obstructing the readability of the artist name
2. When operating the connected iPhone directly (not to CarPlay), the app that is running in CarPlay is stopped (not always). This is strange since the way the system should work is that CarPlay operation would not be impacted by iPhone operation. These are independent
However, both of these glitches are minor and not a big deal. Nevertheless, I wanted to share this with the community.

if ypu update your iphone to 14.3 that Spotify glitch will be gone 😉. That one annoyed me a lot.

Thanks guarodc. The second issue is a result of BMW/Minis wireless implementation of CarPlay. This is not unique to you or the CarPlay activation. My experience is that sometimes iOS updates help, sometimes rebooting your phone helps, but this happens. If you search BMW forums, you’ll see similar issues discussed on people with factory CarPlay.
I just got my 2019 Countryman F60 coded with Apple CarPlay a lot oaf people said I would have to use a module I was quoted anywhere from 280 to 797.00. Thank god I didn't have to spend as much. A big THANKS to (sb2002 (Steve) and ndal (Nikos) who helped me til the end. Below are images before & after. I can't thank these guys enough. Hi Walt. To add CarPlay with factory components to a 2017 F56, you'd need to retrofit a different headunit. This is what I did to my car, which conveniently enough, is also a 2017 F56 JCW. It works perfectly, but isn't cheap.

Walt, Steve (sb2002) and NDAL can help you. Steve can attest to this I was about to spend a bunch of money that i didnt have. I looked at the 800 BimmerTech mmi module that once installed they still have to code your system. I bought the FSC codea for SiriusXM and Ndal did everything for me at a fraction of the price. I know that these guys will do right by you.
MazdaRich, were you able to get your CarPlay up and running? Contact SB2002 if you haven't he can help you . He saved me a lot time and aggravation. There no china module or MMI module needed. SB2002 will help you get set up, I was prepared to spend money that I didn't have to and he he told me take a step back and lets see what you are working with. Advised and educated me.

get with Sb2002 and he will help. I have a base model countryman and he got me up and running with car play and i purchased the FCS codes for Sirius and NDAL handled all the coding. You will not be disappointed. These guys are very trust worthy and will not have you spend what you do not have to. Let me know how it works out for you. Below are images of my system.
