F60 2021 MINI Countryman
#26
Greetings All!!
It's been awhile since I've been here at NAM however was hoping to find out information from others about the 2021 Countryman......... as my wife and I will soon be ordering one. We currently own a 2016 "Summer" convertible Mini which is actually our 3rd Mini since 2005. We are now interested in the new 2021 White Silver Metallic SE Plug-in hybrid for winter driving. We just turned 66 so we are looking for a few new fun "toys" in life. Not looking to save money with a hybrid as much as I enjoy and appreciate the technology.
It would be extremely helpful if Mini USA would update their Countryman configurator for the 2021 models. Regardless, I've read and watched all the YouTube videos on the new 2021 Countryman models and will be coordinating with our dealer (Classic Mini in Ohio) to order one.
Great to be back here reading about Mini in general ;-)

Glad I could help. WW did in fact remove the CARGO ID field which lets folks search by VIN and I've previously used this for 2 Porsches and 3 Minis. I was surprised to find it missing but found a post from some smart folks on a Volvo forum that figured out a way to do the VIN search by using a specific URL. Kudos goes to them, I'm just the messenger.

Did you remove the space in the URL and append your full VIN at the end? If your car is on a WW vessel, the link should work. The Manon was originally scheduled to arrive port of NY 9/18 but is now 9/20 according to the website. Not sure which port your car is heading to, but you can use the schedules to back in to the vessel name. Happy to assist you via PM if you want to send VIN.

I returned our end of lease 2017 F60 to the dealer on Monday, While I was there, the GM let me know that they just got in their first 2021 F60 and it was virtually the exact same configuration as we ordered. Only differences were that ours will have black bonnet stripes, black roof rails, piano black interior trim bits, and the JCW steering wheel. Anyway, here are a few photos. White Silver is definitely more silver than white as evidenced by the contrast with the white bonnet stripes.
Meanwhile, our car is now in Halifax on the Manon and due at the port of NY on 9/21.

Nice to see the Piano Black exterior trim option finally includes black trim for the S scuttles instead of chrome. (Even if the two different blacks don't match... it's a start!)
I'd be all over these if someone can dig up a part #.

Haven't done much on NAM for years, and it was fun coming back in here and seeing the Smelly Clutch guy! That thread was vital for me when I ordered my 2013 CMS in October 2012. I did a back-to-back test drive of manual and auto and, after stalling it horribly a time or two starting on a hill, decided that that manual/clutch combo was not for me (even though my 2005 MCS was manual and was great). Starting that thread was a valuable public service!

Well, I like that White Silver; for a long time I figured my next MINI would be that color if available, and voila! it became available for the 2021 CM. But my wife is burned out on white cars and even though it is more silver than white, it is still white-ish. So no White Silver for me.
The Sage Green, especially with black roof/mirrors, has looked very good to me ever since I saw it in photos and videos. But it is always hard to tell without seeing it in person. I might have gone with it anyhow, but my wife was pretty opposed to any form of green.
We might have gone with Melting Silver, but they discontinued that for 2021 CMS.
So we finally decided on Thunder Grey with body-colored roof/mirrors. I wasn't really sure how this was going to turn out, but now that we have the car we are both very happy with the result. I think the chrome and aluminum pieces, and the silver wheels, work well with the grey.

Looks great! Drive it in good health!
We picked up our car yesterday - will post pix soon. Love the White Silver a lot, especially with the piano black exterior bits. The only things they don't black out are the chrome belt line trim and the All4 badges.
MiniDan - let me know if you figure out how to activate Alexa. The in-car tutorial refers to a "Hub" tab in the MINI Connected app. On my Android version, there is no such tab. I'm more curious than anything, the voice button when held down will activate Google Assistant on my phone which is good by me.

Thanks, MiniDan - not surprisingly, the Android version of the MINI Connected App does NOT have the Hub tab, so I guess Alexa requires an iPhone. No loss, I don't think I would have used it, having Google Assistant is better anyway. What does bother me is why MINI has yet to embrace Android Auto where so many other automakers feature both CarPlay and Android Auto. Looks like I'll still be using my phone mount and Waze anyway.
At least the Android MINI Connected app allows me to lock and unlock doors, see vehicle location, and so forth, but that's about it.

Auto Start/Stop
In our 2017 Countryman, you could disable the Auto Start/Stop function by pressing the toggle switch and that setting state (disabled) would remain in effect even through subsequent restarts. The setting seems to have been associated with the key memory feature.
In our 2021, the Auto Start/Stop function setting needs to be disabled EVERY time we start the car. It seems like setting state is no longer associated with key memory. What a PITA. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
