What battery is in the Countryman S?
Is it an AGM? Can it be replaced with an aftermarket? I read that I have to get a battery installed at the dealership so that can "register" a new battery with the car's systems.
I have a 2018 Countryman S and the battery won't start the car. I have to use a jumpstarter to have it kick over. I've tried using a Noco Genius 5 to trickle charge the battery.

Hey Mand0o Which Battery did you choose? May I ask what all you had to remove to get to the battery, Looks like the air cleaner must come off.
Mine is four years old this month, original battery 20 k miles, changed the oil today, and was looking at it. I have been changing oil every 3000, to 3500 miles,
Since I Can't look at it once its in the Motor ! grrrrrrrr.
Have been thinking battery lately and want to be prepared in case it dies, this winter.
( I hope not )
I appreciate it !

A-13 ? Are you talking about the Key FOB ?
I'm talking about the battery in the engine compartment. Thee are a lot of car parts on backorder, and now even batteries ? That is killer.
I will have to look around on NAPA website and see what they list for a Mini cooper Countryman All4.
I ill put a trickle charger on mine if I am not driving it for a week or so, Its good for the battery also.
There maybe a second battery on-board somewhere since it has that switch that will allow the motor to die at a stop-light, and the accessories keep running.
I'll see what I can find out
best regards

Interested in this topic as well.
A lot of the main stream chains have battery finders and I plug in my 2012 countryman S, and tells me a battery I can buy-but, I am not sure if its correct OR if I need to buy a certain brand/model OE, etc...I know I have to register it and I have a blue driver ODB on the way, but need to know the specific battery.
Any help on this would be great. Cheers....maybe it's in the manual hahahahahaha, will look

Just happened to my wife's 2018s, she drove up north to visit for thanksgiving. while there she went to a gas station and the battery died and Mini towed the car to the dealer and replaced the battery no charge. First battery they put in was faulty so they put in a second one and it was good. So glad everything was covered under warranty. The battery gave no warning it was going, it just died while pumping gas. They never seam to die in the driveway.

I am fine with getting new, just need the ideal model/part number.

Yeah, what im trying to avoid-just dont know where to look for specific battery specs-what to avoid-brand-etc.....as i've been trying to get this 2012 to pair with my phones bluetooth, radio on, learning the buttons with the motor off, im getting the 'battery discharge' warning light, so I am sure this battery in the car is dying, opened up the hatch and its a INTERSTATE, so the previous owner must have replaced?

Called the mini dealer, they have the AGM battery, they want $230 for it....Does anyone know what the OEM brand battery was/is? I read Exide....just curious how critical it is to replace it with the 'right' brand and AGM vs Lead cell.
I checked my current battery by way of this video:
And when I started the engine, it dipped down to 9-10 volts, which may be a warning? but, certainly didnt go below 5 as he said.
The date on the battery in this car says August 2019, its an interstate, previous owner didnt drive it much-I have no problem replacing battery just want the sure fire "WHICH ONE TO GET"...but maybe im over thinking it. haha.

Old thread, but I wanted to add my info for the google search archive since I ended up here. My vehicle: 2018 Mini Cooper S Countryman All4.
BMW OEM battery numbers were:
S: 61-21-9-381-775
AW: 61-21-7-555-718
12V 80Ah 800CCA
Replaced with: Duralast Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group Size 94R 850 CCA H7-AGM (this is an 80Ah battery)
The BMW battery had no group size. I took the OEM battery to AutoZone and physically compared it to the Duralast Platinum H7-AGM to make sure it would fit in the car. What a pain in the butt to change this battery. It wasn't "hard" to follow the online videos, but it was time consuming with all the fiddly parts being removed, including the stabilizer bar, dropping parts in the engine and spending 20 minutes trying to get it out, realizing I don't have metric sockets that small and going to Harbor Freight, etc.
