Oil Catch Cans let me know what you think?
After speaking with several Mini techs at at a few different dealers/shops. and a tons of research online I finally made up my mind to get a oil catch can in my Mini. With all my looking around on every forum I could find I ran in to a local place here in palm beach that has been making catch cans for dodge's Hemi and other cars. So I contacted them about making catch can set up for us the Mini owners that looks better the welded sheet metal, can be customized to order and most of all really works. Well I'm happy to say we got something and it WORKS!!!
They custom made some fittings so we could tap into the PCV hose on the top left of the engine. Where the car needs it most of all as told to me by each and every Mini tech at 3 dealers and my tuning shop witch all they do is BMW and Mini work. here are some pics for you all to see. and the oil in the can is only after 300 miles.
They are also in the works on a dual can system that will tap into the more commonly used side on the intake also.
Cans will be available in a few different colors
Colors will include
Blue
Red
Black
Purple
Polished “Looks like Chrome
All Cans are American made on CNC machines from 6061 Billet aluminum.
These have a two chambered top to help catch the excess oil.
FYI I'm not the vendor and I make no money off of this I just helped develop it for us Mini owners and i m only wanting to know what you all think
here is the link http://www.photobucket.com/miniman25
here is a vid of how can opens for checking oil level and draining Link
So let me know what you think about it all ask me any question you may have

no clamps not needed at all on the can I have 1000 miles on it with very spirited driving including day trips of over 200 miles non stop driving and the fittings on the can do not let the hose go

it will take you just as long to unscrew the bottom al look at it as it would to unscrew the dip stick on other cans as for capacity you can get from oil change to oil change on this can unless you do 15,000 mile oil changes and lastly its ok if its not for you we can still be friends

Great design, i used a water separator on my Turbo s2000 which resembled this setup, as logn as you baffle... it works! nice job! Im all for R&D from the user end!
Points-
Regardless of what can you use its a PITA to drain them... unless you drain via plug with some sort of "device" so you dont make a mess.
I have bsh because i didnt have the time to source parts but i would have done the same. The baffle you are using is good because it flows air downward through the baffle then upward out
Good stuff.!

As for R&D by me its sweet, I talk to people about the cars, I drive the car, I figure out how to make it better (in my own eyes ), and I drive my car some more, then I find some one to make it and last but not least I drive my car!!! now if I could figure out a way to get paid to do this it would be a dream job!!!! but truly the work and all that and credit goes to the people over at Billet Technologies they are the one that do all the real work I just drive the car and talk to people when they ask me something that I can't answer.

Oh ive come up with a few goodies myself i know how it goes.
For my case theres no getting around the PITA... my engine bay is cluttered with aftermarket parts so i had to mount mine towards the front of the bay next to the expansion tank

I'm going to post a vid I made about draining this can and I will let you all diced if its a PITA or not (everyone sees level of what is a PITA is different I think its easer then then all any other out there but that just me so).
