Just got home from Tate Mini of Annapolis, MD..
We can expect delivery around February-March 03.. So it will be an 2003 Mini..
We ordered our Cooper S, Pure Silver, Silver top, sunroof, etc..
The Cold weather package has changed.. Now it will include the rain sensing wipers, Auto dimming windshield.. and the price went up $200 bucks.. so now the package is $500. Since we are wary of those two options, and didn't want them, we just got the heated seats at $270..
Also, our dealer advised us that MINI will possibly be raising the MSRP 5-15%, so.....

Hi, Chrystee,
I also talked to my dealership about the changes for the 2003 model. I'm a little confused by your post. Do you mean the "Auto dimming mirrors" or the "Heated windshield"? I don't think there is such an option as an "Auto dimming windshield".
My dealer assured me the heated windshield would now be part of the cold weather package, and I'm hoping she's right. That is something I'm looking forward to living in MINI-snow-ta.

I've seen quotes of 2%-3% increases on various Internet forums. I'm intererested in what other people have heard about a 2003 price increase. Am hoping the dealer's mention of a 10% increase was simply a sales tactic.

All this is a little scary to hear about a price increase of 10%. I'm in the same boat as the guy/gal who is expecting there mini in March 03'. Basically~ I knew about the increase in the cold weather package. Hopefully~ the car price will only be raised about 3% or so. Would there be a definete increase? My finances are not that great right now with the market tanking and thought it would be best to wait and see if i could sell my honda civic coupe dx 95' 145,000 miles for at least $1500? Just need to pray that they don't increase the cooper s too much! I thought that waiting until the March 03' date for delivery will take out some bugs?

>>This price increase has me worried. However I do feel that there is a good chance that dealers are using this as sales tactic. If anybody has some better info. please post it.
Im worried about it too..
Why would it be a sales tactic? With my dealer, there is really no way we could get one before then, and he didn't try to push some car they already have on the lot (which is none!).. He seemed to just be trying to be totally upfront and honest with us..

Why? It just gives the dealer more reason to have 2002s going over MSRP.

As of 6/25, I was number 38 on the list to finalize my MCS order. The dealer called me up on 7/05 and offered to let me order that very day! Very tempting, but, as I said earlier, I won't have my truck paid off before November (as originally planned). I'm under the opinion that a lot of people are waiting on '03 models instead of taking delivery of a "year old" 2002 model.
I called it a "possible sales tactic" because the salesman mentioned the possible 10% price increase for the next year while trying to convince me to order a late-2002 model. On the other hand, he may have been looking out for me?
I wouldn't worry about taking delivery of a 2002 model. I tend to keep cars for 6-10 years... it appears that most of the problems with the earlier cars have been addressed by now.

I spoke with my dealer (Fairfield MINI, CT), who said that they heard from MINI this afternoon that the price increase on the 2003 Cooper S will be $150.00. The dash will come in a choice of either the current patina, a silver (like on the 2002 Cooper), or a dark grey. There will also be a "sports" steering wheel option.

Gosharks posted the true, the Euro and the Btsh pound are vey stable money right now, and the excange rate could affect on the short future if things do not change soon, acctually I am in the procees to import a MGT from UK, it is cheap and easier to me to do that tru Mexico, because they just sign a free trade agreement
( Mexico and European comunity ) so import taxes will be only 1%, plus the
Mexican peso vs British pound excange it is better right now than the US Dlls vs British pounds, so I will earn about 4.5 % in the operation, why?? really I do not know it, but it is the international game on the exchange coins, the only reasonable thing could be that some countries have better comercial balance than others, I go tru this a year ago, when one of my nephews was studying in Japan and when we buy yens for him tru the bank, we got more yens if we bought them in the Mexican banks, so each time I was sending him money, I sold the Dlls and buy pesos, then in the same bank I buy yens and they gave 5 to 6 % more yens, I ask to my US bank what was happening and they only tell me that Mexico have better rate then them.
So .... in this case you will never know for sure what it is going to happen because Mini it is a 100% import car.
