I've been lurking on these forums for a bit now getting ready to take delivery of my new Cooper S today. Last night I was told that there "may be a problem" with my car. Today I got the call. The truck transporting mine went up in flames... At first I thought it was a joke. Not any fault of MINI but I am bummed.
Oh that's terrible! Maybe they can find another for optioned out like you want. Good luck!
Thanks. According to my dealer all 8 cars were sold (3 were coming to my dealer) so that's what MINI is trying to do right now. If that is not possible they would rebuild them with a high priority and be here within 30 days. At least that is what I was told. Said more information will be available Monday.
I'm going to see what they have to say come Monday. Mine was fully loaded and if that 30 days suddenly changes to months I'm gonna have to consider a different car.
Man I am sorry dude. I can't even imagine how horrible that must be. Glad to hear Mini is doing what they can to take of you and the other buyers. Man, that might be the worst thing I've seen today.
Dude, this is crazy! I would be so sad! Hope they get you in a MINI of your liking quickly :-)

What I find funny is how they are talking about the traffic jam it created and talking to people about that when they should be interviewing me and the other owners about losing their cars... (trying my best to have a sense of humor about this)

Glad to hear it man, and that is certainly the best attitude you can have Those folks caught in the traffic jam have no idea of the real pain this tragedy has caused.

Thanks. I'll be sure to update this thread with what I hear on Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow that really sucks, my sympathies. But... if you car had a contrasting roof it was my understanding that the factory can't produce these right now. Not until June build. I'm assuming your car probably had the contrasting roof.
My sympathies also, the truck delivering my car was 36 hours late on a 1 hour trip. This type of incident was what I feared. Good luck getting a replacement, maybe a loaner until the replacement arrives, now that would be stepping up.

It did. The big difference though is that the cars that were lost were all sold and MINI is said to be willing to do whatever it takes to get all of these customers there cars in the fastest amount of time. I'm sure they can pull some strings. And in my opinion, they better.

Seriously though, you seem to have a good attitude about this entire deal; I'd be kicking, crying and rolling on the floor like a spoiled brat.
Good luck...
Trust me I have my moments.

Thanks. Friday night before I knew what the "problem" was I was talking to friends saying it couldn't be damaged if it was on the truck getting here or it would have been stuck at the distribution center so I had no idea what it could have been.
Just looking at that those 8 damaged cars makes me nauseated! What a waste of factory time and materials :( I send my condolences - but, destiny got in the way of you getting that car. Maybe it was a lemon!!?
