Carefull when ordering luggage compartment mat!
I have the $250 boot with panel that can lift and go flat with the laid down back seats if required.
I ordered 2 accessory parts to protect the carpet.
1 - 51472353820 (fitted luggage compartment mat)
2 - 51472353821 (luggage compartment pan)
Well the mat does not work with the tilting floor because it has no cut out for the floor to pass the hinge brackets. Also this piece stops the floor clipping in the up position. So if you want to raise the floor to get at stuff underneath you have to take it out completely. Not sure what this part was designed (or not) for. Anyone else buy this....?

I didn't get the boot package with my new Mini. How rigid are either of those pieces? I'd like something I could cover the "pit" back there in the boot and if these could support some weight without collapsing into the hole I might take them off your hands.

Hey Paul. They would support no weight. Thin plastic/rubber material. I would just cut a piece of 3/8" ply. If necessary go to a dealer and trace the edge of the boot package floor. Then go to an automotive supply or paint it with 6 coats of satin black (sanding in between). Then buy a piece of black carpet and glue to the top. Total cost <$50 = better than stock!

However, the piece my MA had that I tried in my MCS seemed to have part of a hinge attached.
Anyway, my MA is getting info.

Another word of caution here. I'm not sure if it is just ECS Tuning where I purchased these parts (among others) But when I received part #51472353821 (luggage compartment pan) it came without the dividers - so it is just one big box for stuff to rattle around in. When I questioned them they said that in the US there are no dividers! Seems like the main reason I would buy the thing right. Sewell show the dividers in their picture and the New ECS photo of the unit they shipped to me. I Called MINI USA and they told me to call my dealer. Called Mini Morristown and they said that it should come with dividers....go figure.
Anyone else order this overpriced piece of plastic?

The storage compartment pan should include dividers, however they are poorly secured inside the bag from MINI and could have easily been misplaced during any portion of the transit from Germany to the end customer.

We just took delivery on our MCS HT Saturday and drove it 600 miles to get home. We got the storage package which includes the very rigid platform that covers the boot's recessed well and the dealership tossed in the rear/boot mat. They work GREAT!
These are MINI accessories/parts, so I'm not sure if Sewell or ECS are exactly the same.
First, there are two levels that you can set the rigid platform in. If the rear seats are folded forward, the lower level puts the platform at the bottom of the padding of the seat; the higher level puts the platform even or level with the back of the folded seats. When you lift the platform, it wants to pivot and drop to the lower level when you replace drop the platform back into place. We have learned to give it a little lift to keep it from dropping.
When our dealership threw in the so-called "boot mat" we originally thought this was to cover the bottom of the boot's "well" and we weren't going to get the storage box, but that's NOT the case. This "boot mat" actually goes on top of the rigid platform (storage package). At first, we found this mat would get caught under the pivot point when we lifted the rigid platform, but we've learned that pulling up a little as we lift prevents this...AND, for all intents and purposes, we may or may not always use it.
Also, for our '09 MCS HT, we did get a big mat to cover the back of the rear seats when they were folded down so we could pile in luggage and junk on our longer trips and not scuff up the back of the seats. Although it isn't a "perfect" fit on the '14, it's really darn close. So, we kept it and when we have the seats folded down, the big mat covers the back of the seats (with the part that tucks in to keep it in place going down between the storage well and the storage pan (box). The rigid platform covers the box, and the boot mat protects the rigid platform.
Our storage pan (box) did come with two dividers, wrapped separately in packing/bubble wrap. However, the "slime" kit we have didn't fit with the divider in place; we took out the other divider so our "California Duster" would also fit...so we aren't using either of the dividers. All of our detailing supplies and microfiber towels keep things from rattling around.
If needed/requested, I can try to take and post pics.

MTMotorin - With the tilting floor you can lift it up and it locks into place exposing the nest on the underside (if you decided to install them). The point I'm making is that the "Boot Mat" prevents this being able to happen. So you have to move it out of the way when you lift the floor and it stops it locking in place - feels like an extremely poor design job to me - Although it looks nice. Form follows function - Frank Lloyd Wright would never have approved.

Boot/Trunk Area
If I had known more about the Storage Compartment option, I'm still not sure if I would had have spent the $250.
Anyway, in addition to the 4 mats for up front, I also ordered a matching mat (cocomats.com) for that "well" where that compartment would have gone. I still may order the lid, but that "well" nicely accommodates a milk crate for old newspapers, a styrofoam chest in case I buy frozen food at the store and an emergency pack (jumper cables, tire repair foam, etc.). With just the mat back there it looks like this:

Hi Gregory:
Not sure what I'm doing or you're doing, but I don't seem to have the same problem with the mat interfering with getting the platform to lock in the upright position.
I haven't inserted photos into a post yet, but someone requested I show pics, so bear with me. I got photos taken, but need to figure out how to insert them...Post(s) with pics to follow, I hope.

Storage and boot mat pics
Okay - as requested and promised, I'm going to try to post pics showing the storage package and accessories we are using in our F56/2014 MCS HT. I think I'm limited to 5 pics/post, so this may take a few posts.
Description of Storage Pics:
1. Clockwise from top: Backseat protector mat from '09 MCS, rigid storage package platform, rubber boot storage pan (dividers not shown), and flexible boot mat
2. Boot with rear seats folded down
3. Boot with rear seats folded down; backseat protector mat and rubber storage pan with dividers in place
4. Rigid storage platform in low position
5. Rigid storage platform in high position
More to follow...

Storage and boot mat pics - Part 2
Starting to get the hang of this photo thing! Hope the image quality is okay.
More Storage Pics:
1. Flexible boot mat covering rigid platform and storage pan and back seat mat set in place. This is how we travel with luggage, cooler, folding bike, etc.
2. Letter opener pointing to the High position resting point
3. Letter opener pointing to the Low position resting point
4. Storage pan with dividers; Rigid platform locked in upright position behind clips with flexible mat on top.
5. Storage pan without dividers holds: Slime kit with first aid kit, full size California Duster, microfiber Windshield Wonder cleaning tool, 2 small folding stools, aerosol glass spray, quart of oil, quart of windshield washing fluid, lug nut tool, locking lug nut, LED/magnetic Gorilla light, wrench/plier tool, screwdriver tool, battery operated/magnetic emergency flashing triangles, Zippee Shades, microfiber towels, microfiber sponge, paper towels, ice scraper, and gloves.
When I lift the rigid platform, it wants to drop to the lower level, so I just give a little tug to keep it on the upper level as I pivot it back into place.

Storage and boot mat pics - Part 3
Okay, I think this is the last of it...thanks for your patience and understanding if this is old hat stuff.
Last Storage Pics:
1. Most have found, but some newbies with newbie MA’s may not know, that the back seats can be put into a more upright position. Unlocking and moving each rear seat forward a bit exposes a bar that pivots up. The end of the bar locks into the seat latch. This will gain you about 5.5 inches to accommodate that taller box or “gotta-get-it-in-the-boot” item. To unlatch, just pull up on the seat release and then swing the bar back into its hiding place. Photo shows the bar partially raised and ready to slip into the seat latch.
2. This is where we've found it easiest to grab the platform and mat to keep them from sliding down to the lower position.
3. Normal situation with stuff in the storage tray covered by the rigid storage platform and the boot mat. Replaced the boot cover that hides stuff from view after photo was taken.
Well, hope this helps those who asked for the photos. Happy Motoring!

Hi Guys,
My dealership and MiniUSA have me totally confused...Or they are totally confused Has anyone ordered the luggage compartment accessory separately of the car build? If so can you confirm that part number 51472353821 includes the hard lid and any needed brackets etc? Any info you could provide would be a huge help! I just took possession of a 2014 MCS and should have ordered this part with the build!

My parts guy also said it could be 4-6 weeks before the part makes it to the US.
YMMV
