hey guys, looking for some help, or just wanting to be pointed in the right direction....ok so at a 120 I seem to lose the battle for power. this is where my buddy's in the bmw's catch up and take over. Right now i have a 15 pulley and an alta intake, which way can you guys guide me in mods for a better top end.

Wow... a 1.6 is plenty to push 150+ in a 2700lb car. I'm always so suprised at how little faith people put in a Fi 1.6

Full exhaust, ECU, and a good tune, and you'll be hanging with all of your BMW buddies.

Beyond that, a cam/P&P head with valves and retainers, and you should be pulling on them no problem on the freeway.

ok so to answer your question..yes a good tune is KEY that's on the average 20 WHP right there....a tune btw is not an ECU flash....then an exhaust would help a bit....you are breathing better....but you are not letting it out better....

and eventually....you run into....ok I did all the "cheap mods" now what...

Head/cam...a properly proted head will get you a solid 30 WHP or more...if not..you might only get six ...they are not all created equal....or ported...LOL...

all that and you can achive some 220 WHP that's alot...belive me....it's more than enough to spank ALOT of cars...even the E46 M3 (since you have bimmer buddies)

Last thing...there is always a bigger fish....I have 295 WHP...I can blow the doors of 90% of the cars I run into....but there are friends of mine with Vipers...and Gallardos...and supras...and they are also modded...500 hp to my 295 WHP just anit enough.....and so what...it's still fun...

no more than any other head out there...I am not sure the exact price it will be...but it includes double springs, titainium seats..and all that retroecabulated regurgitation...

another than made alot of power was the Global Motor Werks head...I am not sure how much it made but I think it was also in the 30 HP range...contact isellem for more info on that

What about Twin-Screw?

I was looking around about the Roots vs Centrifugal (yuck) vs Twin-Screw... I want the twin-screw REALLY badly.... but the only place that seems to be doing it is M7, and the latest news I've seen about it was 2004...

Why not try something like that? I'll be that'll change a bit. Another option is the twincharging, but personally, I think that looks like it's asking for it. I'm not a big turbo fan unless it's twin turbo, with the Porsche 944T being the exception.

Sort of just answered your own question there...

Maybe M7 can give us a progress report.

Hey Tuls,

Just looking at your odometer, with all your mods aren't you worried about your warranty?

You can take 5th gear all the way to the speed limiter, so that's the gear to be in at 120+ if you're looking to get the most out of the motor. Triple digit speeds are fun, aren't they? I drove home from Frankfurt yesterday at mostly between 105 and 115 mph (about 70 miles). That's as much as I push my winter runflats on damp autobahns.

naw...if the TC doesn't break it...then it's warrentied...they have to prove the TC caused the failier......and chances are I can fix most things in half the time they can anyway...LOL...but that's cause it's my car and I wanna drive it...

I'm more interested in the ECU, it has to be cheaper than the head and thus easier on the wallet. Let's talk about the ECU tuning here.
