FS: Stock 2004 Cassette HU (don't laugh)
The ultimate anti-theft device.
Stock Cassette player out of my 2004 S Works (gives it street cred)
Possible reasons to buy this:
1) You are really, really old and/or fearful of CDs.
2) Jefferson Airplane and Hendrix just don't sound the same in digital, man.
3) You want thieves to walk past your car and scoff "Yeah, right, like I'm going to put wear and tear on my hammer for THAT!".
4) Closest to the spirit of the original Mini (except, of course, for 8-Tracks).
5) You're the bitchin'est dude or dudette on this board...that's the person who'll snap this one up.
$25 + ship~$10
or
make me an offer or propose a trade, but nothing large, since my wife wants me to debulk the garage. Something small and valuable, like gold coins or diamonds are good.
Thanks,
Steve

Scat,
Yes, this 'cassette' device is now a footnote on musical recording history. Legend has it that the great-great grandson of the Marquis de Sade (Johnny) had a dream in which tiny metal particles were stuck to a mylar-like strip to produce sound. He was apparently on a powerful hallucinogen when he had this flash of brilliance. These strips had the annoying tendency to stretch, break or bind up on themselves after repeated playings. This is perhaps why cassette tapes were regularly found along roadsides with their innards blowing in the breeze. Of note, these cassettes were consciously engineered to 'hiss', which allowed his friend, Thomas Dolby, to make a tremendous fortune, as did Sony, who sold millions of a quaint device called the 'Walkman'.
Please note, when the gig was up, Johnny Sade invented the new-fangled-now-becoming-obsolete CD, in which he sandwiched a thin foil-like substance between 2 layers of easy-to-scratch plastic and shot a powerful beam of light at it to record and play music (still taking hallucinogens, apparently). Thomas Dolby is reportedly making scratch removal kits and Sony is on it like you-know-what. Few CDs are found by the side of roads presumably because of their second life as coasters.
I hope this clears everything up.
