Warp

Trust me there are no warps at all, as I would take it off. I am very particular about that.

Thanks

ok guys here's some new specs I got from the manufacturer. I've had a great response and my list is growing of people who want them. I will know soon when they will be shipping. I hope these help for those of you still thinking about it.

-The lip will drop the front a little shy of 1 inch. The box dimension is 61x14x4 5lbs (for shipping purposes)

-The lip is not enclosed so you will be able to use braces if you prefer

-The lip is carbon it can take some scrapping on driveways and such but if you were to hit a tree or sidewalk it will definitely crack.

-Installation is easy with nuts, bolts and washer

Here is a photo of the underbelly to give you an idea

I've had one on my car since the winter.
I don't mind, like driving manual it's just another thing that makes me pay attention more while driving, and I'm lowering my car next week.

Surely somebody out there knows that these do have a legitimate purpose, yet nobody in this thread has mentioned it.

It's likely that very few of us in everyday driving would ever get the chance to put them to use doing what they were designed to do. In that case, they are just more bling.

A splitter is like a wing on the front of a car. It can be "tuned," that is, aimed higher or lower to control how much downforce is put on the front of the car at high speed. Given the physics involved, it takes a lot to know just how much additional downforce you're getting by using one of these, but the principle is there whenever you install one of these. The faster you go, the more downforce is applied to the front of your car. Aim the splitter lower (point the front edge closer to the ground than the back edge) and you get even more downforce. Aim it up and you may take off and start to fly! NO, don't do that, that would be extremely dangerous because it could start to exert an upward force on the front of your car... reducing the traction of the front wheels (the drive wheels, by the way, on these cars).

More downforce on the front of your car equals front tires that stick to the pavement better; better traction in other words.

That's what a splitter is for. Next time you see cars racing at a PCA, BMWCCA, SCCA, etc. event look for them... you'll see them on the cars of those who are really into it.

That's my two cents worth. Sorry if everybody already knew this, don't mean to preach to the choir.

I think your reading to much into a splitter for daily driving as these are. You cannot compare track driving to day to day driving as a daily driven car isnt seeing close to the speeds as a car on the track is in which the benefits would suit the need to have one for that purpose.

Funny though....These look just like the ones i got from a local company who dealt with the supplier overseas. A very well known person on this site ( wont mention his name ) put in a huge order with a local company near me to do a group buy possibly on here but left him high and dry with the whole lot of them and the company doesnt do anything with Mini's to begin with.

Very nice spoiler though. Putting mine back on being i take it off during the winter as they act like a shovel in the snow and break very easly.
