From what I have read, and this may not be fact, the price will start at 36K
for the base car. If you add the bigger engine and a few options your going to be up in Corvette country. That's a lot of money for a small four cylinder car.
I also read that it may start at 30K but with potions that will still be big bucks.

The starting price will stop a lot of people $36,000 is a great deal of money. I dont know if I like to looks of it or not? It seems like they are just throwing out new models. Mini, S, Clubman, SUV and now this. Not sure it if is a good thing or not.

The roof makes it look like the car is wearing a backwards hat.
I would kill for body-colored wheels like that, but that probably won't even make it to production.

The Convertable looks much better
MC2 magizine has a story showing the coupe and convertable. The Convertible looks great Top-up or Top-down. I would think if I were Mini I would start touting the Vert.
The coupe has that stupid looking roofline and it just does not look right to me.

I thought exactly the same thing.
I'm with ronnie948, the roadster looks much better.
MINI used to be a good value. I'm afraid that is no longer the case. Start adding options & the price goes up very fast.

Wonder if this car is actually built to compete with the Boxter and other purpose-built sports cars? Or did they just stick an odd cabin roof on it?

I'm sure they'd love to compete, but truth be told it is an econobox, or rather a hot hatch with the top lopped off nothing more nothing less.
I like it for what it is, but a sports car I don't think so.

I don't like the roof line either. I think I would pass on this one like I did the Clubman.

So I just read today that the Coupe's roof is made out of aluminum. It's 175-200 pounds lighter, but....if you look at it the wrong way...
I don't see any reason to not buy a convertible anymore.

A hail storm of not much magnitude will have that roof looking like a Titlist golf ball.

That must explain the extra mileage I've gotten since getting door dings.
